Now that the first week of the 2010 Football (Soccer) World Cup in South Africa is over, which team do you think has more chances to win the cup, or which 2 teams would get to the Final game?
Soccer, in my opinion, is the closest game similar to life itself, I mean the structure of the game and the unpredictability of the final score, of who is the winner and who the loser, all that make soccer the most similar game to the real life itself!
As life with all its political/economical/social events is unpredictable, so is the outcome of a soccer game or a big tournament like the World Cup which gathers the attention of at least a couple of billion people in our planet!
Yes soccer is unpredictable but that does not stop people betting and predicting the outcome of this or that game or the result of a big tournament like the World Cup....and so will we do now!
Now all teams have played 2 games and Argentina is my bet for the winner of this tournament even though I admit that prediction is a very difficult thing, but since we have to do it, I say: I think Argentina will win because of the 2 games I saw, especially the second game against Korea where the superior technique of the Argentinans was outstanding.
Korea is a very tough team even at the world level, but Argentina played so technical and superior that I think they are the best chances for this year's games; or at least so far, they have shown that they deserve to win the games more than any other team..., only if Doctor Maradona could hold his tongue and his eccentric behavior!
Netherlands and Brazil are the other 2 chances for this year's winner.
What do you think? Who is going to make it this year?

by dhhcfo on Tue Jun 22, 2010 06:05 PM PDTI am with you Mehman; Argentina and Maradona has the best charachter team to win the cup. Although I think Brazil have a better team. Messi true potential has yet to be demonstrated. Maradona is a twisted charachter but a likeable coach. Brazil Vs. Argentina on the final -- a dream match-up. Go Argentina!!!!

by Mehman on Tue Jun 22, 2010 02:11 PM PDTin the next round, it is going to be a tough game but Argentina should win.
Argentina defeated Greece 2 to nill, and Mexico was defeated by strong Uruguay, but Mexico made it up to the next round as the second team of their group and now they have to face great Argentina.

by Doctor X on Mon Jun 21, 2010 05:51 PM PDTThat was far from hitting. Not even close. The Ivory guy rammed into him and he raised his arm in a defensive gesture. Totally normal. I believe what african teams need is learning some mannerism on top of making power plays and running as fast as cheetas. They were much better than this way back in the 90's...
BTW have you guys noticed this "akh chesham" trend that has begun lately? No matter where the player gets hit, he immediately reaches for his face:)
I haaled so much watching the Chile vs Swiss Match. ohhh man. It had punches in all directions Socceristically (new term )and Physically. yeahhhhhhhhhh.

Khaleh Moosheh, I think so too like you that Iran will go to the Final match this year!
Anonymouse, Korea's loss with 7 to nill to Portugal is sure a shame for Asia and I am glad that we were not present in Korea's place this year!
Iran should come either ready to the Cup or not come at all and it is good we did not make it this year, hopefully in 4 years we will be there with much more readiness.

by Doctor X on Mon Jun 21, 2010 06:43 AM PDTDespite all that geographical Imbalances and imperfections, as someone who watched most of the game, i could not put the blame on that aspect of the game too much more thani can fault them for their technical and poor performance. We are talking about Multi zillion dollar players here not those who just came out of some soccer training program in abooaboo city:) They should have figured it out.
That guy's name is Javier Hernandez and he is wearing jersey number 14. two others good players on that team is carlos vela who is injured and andreas Gordado. also i will keep my eyes on Ozil and Muller from Germany. Ozil reminds me of The Big Gheysar himself.

by Doctor X on Mon Jun 21, 2010 06:23 AM PDTKaka did absolutely nothing. All it was , was that he had his arms raised and accidentally hit IC player who basically ran into him. How did they conclude that he hit him in the eye is beyond everyone. I think dragging someone off the pitch and pulling them up by force as an IC player did to a brazilian player deserved a harsher approach than this one.
Even the Analysts were disgusted by that stupid call. The same happened to Klose. I mean There is some "unnecessary roughness" going on the officiating side.

by Cost-of-Progress on Mon Jun 21, 2010 05:42 AM PDTbut Kaka's behavior on Sunday's game against the Ivory Coast really dispapointed me. There was no need for what he did and was rightfully suspended for it. They were ahead by 2 goals for crying outloud.

Nice analysis Doctor x , I do agree with most of what you said except concerning Argentina and Brazil, I would say no, regarding Argentina's lost to Bolivia 6-1, I should say that I had a Bolivian student a year ago who was a zealot soccer fan and I asked him about that match in particular and he explained to me that it was a 'natural' loss because Bolivia's capital is the highest (altitude) capital in the world from the sea level, it is like way above mountains and if any safe and sane person goes there he/she will have problems with normal respiring.
And you have to stay there for a minimum of one week until your lungs get used to it and any soccer team who has to come to the capital of Bolivia comes a couple of week earlier so that the players get used to it and it is very hard for foreign teams to play, and the loss was all Maradona's mistake who took the already exhausted team jut 24 hours before the match and the guys could not even walk in the field!
and concerning Messi in the 2 first games I should say even though he has not scored yet but he has played tremendously well specially against Korea, he had direct effect in at least 3 goals out of the 4.
and Brazil is just improving even though I think they will be losers if they face Argentina.
But yes, totally agree with you about Germany and the Netherlands, they are great, and I should also watch the guy you mentioned in Mexico team, what is his name and number?
Majid jan, funny joke man!
