World Cup Predictions
by Mehman
20-Jun-2010

Now that the first week of the 2010 Football (Soccer) World Cup in South Africa is over, which team do you think has more chances to win the cup, or which 2 teams would get to the Final game?

Soccer, in my opinion, is the closest game similar to life itself, I mean the structure of the game and the unpredictability of the final score, of who is the winner and who the loser, all that make soccer the most similar game to the real life itself!

As life with all its political/economical/social events is unpredictable, so is the outcome of a soccer game or a big tournament like the World Cup which gathers the attention of at least a couple of billion people in our planet!

Yes soccer is unpredictable but that does not stop people betting and predicting the outcome of this or that game or the result of a big tournament  like the World Cup....and so will we do now!

Now all teams have played 2 games and Argentina is my bet for the winner of this tournament even though I admit that prediction is a very difficult thing, but since we have to do it, I say: I think Argentina will win because of the 2 games I saw, especially the second game against Korea where the superior technique of the Argentinans was outstanding.

Korea is a very tough team even at the world level, but Argentina played so technical and superior that I think they are the best chances for this year's games; or at least so far, they have shown that they deserve to win the games more than any other team..., only if Doctor Maradona could hold his tongue and his eccentric behavior!

Netherlands and Brazil are the other 2 chances for this year's winner.

What do you think? Who is going to make it this year?

North Korea shames its World Cup losers for 6 hours!

by Anonymouse on

The entire squad was forced onto a stage at the People's Palace of Culture and subjected to criticism from Pak Myong-chol, the sports minister, as 400 government officials, students and journalists watched the six-hour ordeal.

What did they say in those 6 hours?!

Yu Stin Ki Pu! (Your body odor is offensive!)

Coach Wa Shing Ka! (Coach will be washing car!)

Everything is sacred

I predicted wrong.

I hate the mexican defense for letting me down like this. But J. hernandez scored a beautiful goal.  If there is one team in this league that can manhandle the Argentines, it is Germany. Here is hoping they can keep the explosive energy going and alive all the way through to the finals... Ozil/Muller vs Tevez/messi:)

It looks like FIFA and World Cup need to have an overhaul......they need to add instant re-play to prevent the glaring human error in the England vs. Germany game from occurring! The whole thing is embarrassing! No wonder the referees need extra protection! British fans shound be going Iranian!

Argentinian Strikers

by Doctor X on

Will be Sandwiched among Mexican defenders, Like no sandwiches you have seen in your lives, ever. They have got One of their key midfielders off suspension.

Germany - Mexico , for the quarter final match.

Argentina it is...........;-)

This morning there was a very interesting few minutes long clip "speed
photography/analysis"  about the anatomy of a penalty kick on ESPN. I tried to
find and post it here, but no luck. This is how it went.

Penalty point is 36 feet (11m) from the goal.

A penalty kick at an average rate of 70 miles (115 Km) per hour reaches the
goal in 0.43 seconds!

Let's break it down.

In the first 0.1 second the ball travels 10 feet (3.3 m) before
goalie realizes it's direction, another 0.1 second for his eyes to send the
message to his brain at which point the ball has already  traveled another 8
feet (2.44 m), now the goalie has 0.23 seconds to move towards the ball which is
18 feet (5.3 m) away and coming at him at 65mph and he has to cover a goal of
24 x 8 feet (7.32 x 2.44 m).

Goalies are using this technique of assuming and diving towards one side of the goal in
hope of being in the right direction for 50%, but even now they need to decide
to dive up or down in that direction!

No wonder that nowadays penalty kicks are considered  a score 77.5% of
the time!

Germany's Prospects

by Doctor X on

They have to keep the midfield really tight, seal the damn thing up. That is the key to stop Waynollah e rooni and his ilk.

Italy is eliminated, so is france, boy this is fun: the champion and second team of the world are out in the preliminaries!

About Germany and England: 2-1 for Germany is my prediction.

Disarray is the German team's middle name right now. I watched both matches yesterday and while Brits were walking all over Slovania, met with minimum resistance, The germans did the walking over, however they were denied a million times.

Klose's presence would not make much a difference IMO.

germany will win by 2

by hamsade ghadimi on

germany will win by 2 goals with klose back from suspension and an england team in disarray.  the game's a classic.  if argentina beats mexico, the next game (arg/eng or ger/eng) will also be a classic.

Amazing Finish

by Doctor X on

That was an amazing run by Donovan. Let's see how they will get past the cobwebs of Ghananian defence. Germans had to do it from a long range:)

Germans need a long look at their performance and need to go back to the drawing board.
