Yesterday, I posted a link on Balatarin from Iranian.com. The link was getting a good number of hits and votes. All of a sudden, a numb skull left a comment to the effect of "this link violates the site's rules because the website that it is linked to (IC) is a paid and / or members only site." I assume that the same moron "reported" the link as being in violation of Balatarin's rules, because my link was deleted, and the explanation that I was given for the deletion was because it was linked to a paid / members only site. I emailed them about the issue, explaining that IC is not a members only site, and signing up is only a requirement if one wants to contribute (just like Balatarin itself, and pretty much every other site, including YouTube), but never heard back from them, and the link remains deleted.
Obviously, this is absurd, especially given the fact that Balatarin itself blogs on IC. My suggestion is for JJ to remove the Balatarin "share" link from threads and to suspend their blogging rights until they provide an explanation for treating IC links the way they did. This is just unfair.
Has anyone had any other such experiences with Balatarin?

by Onlyiran on Wed May 04, 2011 10:28 AM PDTThanks for the explanation. But I have linked other YouTube videos and thay have never been removed. Plus, like I said, the reason that I was given was that the link was removed because it connects to a "paid / members only site."

by Patriot on Wed May 04, 2011 10:11 AM PDTMany Iranian.com users post links on Balatarin all the time. My links have never been deleted for this reason ("link to a membership required site"). But my links to videos on Iranian.com have been deleted a few times and once I even got suspended for a week for this. :) Balatarin insists that unless substantial content is added to a video on a third-party source, YouTube links should be directly linked to YouTube as a measure to control repeat postings of the same videos by tens of people.
My two cents is that the tunnel video you are talking about would have been deleted from Balatarin anyway, because it did not have any value-added content next to the video.

by Onlyiran on Wed May 04, 2011 09:51 AM PDTAnahid: that was the reason that I was given for the deletion. Perhaps it's a new policy, or perhaps the other links were not "reported" like this one was?
IranMarzban: I don't have any invitations. I recently joined at the kind invitation of an IC user myself. I think that it takes some time for people to be granted "invitations."
EA: I posted the link about the Toohid Tunnel accidents. It was up for a few hours and got almost 700 clicks and 16 votes (I think) before it was removed. At first, I thought that there may have been an issue with the embeded video, but the video was from YouTube, so I guess the only explanation is that they determined that the IC link was to a paid site.
Which link did you post anyway?

Onlyiran,
by Anahid Hojjati on Wed May 04, 2011 01:31 PM PDTBalatarin has some links to IC. I think your case may be an isolated case, but who knows for sure.

Or perhaps if you know any of those people at Balatarin
by Onlyiran on Wed May 04, 2011 08:57 AM PDTyou can inquire. Perhaps they will respond to you.
JJ - I assume that it had something to do with the "reporting"
by Onlyiran on Wed May 04, 2011 08:54 AM PDTof the link. But shouldn't Balatarin people know better and show some discretion? Agian, they haven't responded to my email yet. If they do, it will shed some light and I will post it here.
