So, last night was one of those infrequent times that I watched Anderson Cooper’s show on CNN. His first item of story was the “terror baby” hoopla that is being spread by none other than Texas lunatic congressman and Gomer Pyle look alike (and sound-alike) Louie Gohmert (even his last name sound like “Gomer”). Anyway, it’s this congressman’s theory that there are mothers in the Middle East who are getting pregnant, and are coming to the U.S. to have their babies just so that they can go back to the Middle East, raise them as “jihadists” and send them back to the U.S. to “destroy our way of life.” Can someone come up with a more ridiculous conspiracy theory?
Mr. Gohmert also claims that he was a former judge, which means that he should be used to the idea of giving people an opportunity to speak and then respond to them. Instead, throughout the interview, he yells, screams and tries to shut down Anderson Cooper.
Anyway, here’s the link to the page with the video on it. I couldn’t embed it, but perhaps the administrators can be kind enough to do it.
PS-the key word in Mr. Gohmert’s vocabulary is “gaping hole”!

I watched this Last Night as well
by Artificial Intelligence on Fri Aug 13, 2010 05:41 PM PDTI just could not believe the BS coming out of this guys mouth. I was impressed by Anderson as he kept his cool and kept on asking for evidence which the guy could not offer. This jerk is playing on the fears of the average ignorant American. Pathetic.
I just watched the video again, and the last ten seconds are
by Anonymous Observer on Fri Aug 13, 2010 02:58 PM PDTabsolutely hilarious when he keeps telling Anderson Cooper "Anderson help us fill the hole". PRICELESS!!!!!!!!

Really!
bavafa, that's the funniest line i read today. thanks man, when you're funny, you're hilarious.
Mehrdad & Vildemose-
by Onlyiran on Fri Aug 13, 2010 01:40 PM PDTMehrdad- I was channel surfing & there wasn't much on. I usually don't watch his show--or any network news shows (I actually have deleted FoxNews from my cable box:-)). Although someone just sent me a video from them about carter and Iran that I may post later.
Vildemose: correct. It is racism in disguise by fear mongering.
let's analyze this name
by ahmad_ on Fri Aug 13, 2010 12:48 PM PDTGohmert, consists of 2 syllables; Goh & Mert.
We all know what Goh means.
Mert with a little bit of change will be like Merd and in French means the same
as the first syllable.
There you have it, what this guy is all made of. LOL
OnlyIran: You dig them out and you dig them out good
by Bavafa on Fri Aug 13, 2010 11:21 AM PDTIt is amazing how many nut cases are here in the US and the type of BS they feed people. Just in the past few days you and some others have been presenting us with such cases. Thank god my TV is not connected to any broadcast or cable program of any sort and here is a good example as why. I wouldn't imagine such BS even on IRI TV, but here in the US, is another story.
Now I have a question for you, marde hessabi vaghte zyadi dari ke ba Anderson Copper tamasha kardan sarf koni?
Mehrdad
Pure Racism!
by vildemose on Fri Aug 13, 2010 11:18 AM PDTAO: LOL
Only Iran: agreed. This tea baggers/Fox News/Republican'ts/apologists are motivated solely by racial animus. They would like to rescind the 14th amendment that allows citizenship to anyone born in the US.
The United States is one of the few countries that grants citizenship to anyone born in the country, based on the 14th Amendment.
Last week, Senator Lindsey Graham said he is considering introducing a constitutional amendment that would change the existing law, so that children born to illegal immigrants in the U.S. do not automatically become citizens.

by hamsade ghadimi on Fri Aug 13, 2010 11:02 AM PDTonlyiran, i agree with you. there has been other crazy-assed ideas on the terrorism business. i personally worked on one such project (not top secret:) and had to demonstrate the folly of the idea that was proposed in a nerd-like fashion. terrorism and fear-mongering go hand in hand.
Hamsadeh Jaan what you refer to is correct
by Onlyiran on Fri Aug 13, 2010 10:53 AM PDTand Anderson Cooper mentions it as well. There is no doubt that some people come to the U.S. to have a child for U.S. citizenship purposes. I actually personally know of at least three Iranian families who have done so. But to make a leap from that concept to "terror babies" is just without any basis in fact. As the former FBI officials point out, there are no shortages of U.S. citizens who Al-Qaeda can recruit. Therefore, they have no reason to go through the crazy scheme that this guy is suggesting, and wait 20 years., hoping that the child will follow their ideology and become a suicide bomber of some sorts.
...
by hamsade ghadimi on Fri Aug 13, 2010 10:48 AM PDTthe phenomenon of pregnant non-nationals traveling to u.s. to have a child with u.s. citizenship is not uncommon. my korean freind told me many koreans do just that; they even have hospital package tours. therefore, the idea may not be far-fetched. i'm sure the i.n.s. is well-aware of this phenomenon and may have some policy in-place to deal with it.
Perhaps he kept saying "gaping hole" because he knows
by Anonymous Observer on Fri Aug 13, 2010 10:31 AM PDTthat Cooper is gay. :-))
Sorry, ladies and gents. I know that this a crude joke, and apologize in advance.
