Poem: Kohan Diara (Ancient Land, Country) by Nader Naderpour, Voice: Dariush Eghbali

Please note: In the first two (2) minutes of the video, Dariush recites his famous song Bachehaye Iran

Hi! R2-D2,

I found another version of the same song.....Dariush sang the song with a tender voice.....I could hear Persian instruments in the background...I heard santour...I also like the Persian pictures and Persian carpets in the video....it is truly a nostalgic song!

Dear Yolanda, Thank you very much for reminding me of this wonderful poem by Naderpour, directed towards Khomeini .. I was planning to do a blog on Simin Behbehani .. However, when I saw the poem in English, I decided to post that in a separate blog (Farsi) .. I couldn't find a recitation of it .. If you find it, let me know :)

P.S. Please post the English Translation there

Hi R2-D2,

Dariush's music video sounds great! I heard people shouting "freedom" (Azadi) and "I love you"(?).....I noticed that all the instruments are Western instruments like flute, etc....there is no Persian instrument used in the concert....the arrangment is great!

I played several of his videos....I think he is in the 'crooner' category. Shajarian has a higher voice than him.

This poem was written a quarter of century ago, but it is still applicable today!

Poem by Nader Naderpour (February 1985)
Translated by Farhad Mafie (January 1989)

*********************************

Homily of Perdition
(For Imam Ommat, Ayatollah Khomeini, "The People's Imam")

*************************************

O, infernal nature! Although the oppression of the sky
gave you the heritage of my land,
under the mirthful sun of that land
your hand planted nothing but the seed of inhumanity.
It is time to inform you, you the newly planted.

Till the moment that your death message arrives
O, despicable man!
Till the moment that your wicked blood flows
on the cold cobblestone.
Let me compose an anthem to your annihilation.

In my eyes you are a black wind that suddenly
has stolen several thousand young leaves.
After the sun's death your dark spirit closed
several thousand thrilled eyes
to the morning and opened them to the night.

The starless nights that mothers' eyes
mourned tears running down their cheeks for their children.
In your cold eyes, O, you iniquitous man!
No one has seen compassion nor read repentance.

The white haired elderly that on the tombstone slab
have written the names of their loved ones
are crying blood in your days,
harvesting what they have never planted.

Although you removed the lion's image and the face of the sun
from the three colored flag of champions,
their memories are still the source of our enthusiasm.
And although the name of that eloquent Shahnameh writer
was stolen from the books and tomes,
only his holy voice exists in our thoughts.

Wait till the groans of your prisoners
are too loud to fit in their chests,
let the people's tears flood and their blood run
till red roses of revenge grow from the earth.

Wait till the morning of the revenge
when you get up from your morning sleep
and young and old, small and big, scream
O, black-hearted devil!
Your death will be celebrated by all men and women,
Your name will be removed from the journey of time.

Hi! R2-D2,

Thank you for the song's name. I found the you-tube video. I think Shajarian has a better voice than Dariush....... Naderpour was cool! He was a wordsmith and also got nominated for Nobel Prize. I wanted to find the translation for "Kohan Diara", but I found nothing.... I read his poem "Idol Maker", it is very beautiful! It blew me away! I wanted to save his poem, but it is in graphic form instead of text form, so I can only bookmark the page:

Hi! R2-D2,

Thank you for the 2 music videos. I have not got a chance to watch them yet 'cause I am watching Winter Game Opening Ceremony right now.....but I have read this guy's bio....it says Dariush became famous with the song ""Do Not Tell Me You Love Me"....if you happen to know the song, could you please post the name? so I can try to find the song on you-tube....wikipedia says Dariush is a member of Amnesty International....I am kind of surprised 'cause Amnesty International is not a fan of IRI.....I wonder if IRI allows such a high profile star to be an Amnesty International member....I checked his website, he will have concerts in Turkey and Canada in the next 2 months....it is hard to tell if he is based in Iran or the West....

It is just amazing that guy has recorded 200 songs with 29 albums.....must be very popular and in high demand!
