Maybe i am wrong with 'adabiat-e khiaban-i' but this is how i see the world and how i write about them.i do this for many years and believe me when i tell you never somebody tell me about sexist expressions ! because you were honest with me,is very important to me reading your comments,i love honest people.

I have to agree with Azadeh and Amir Ashkan and repeat that your writing is very good and fresh, and I also enjoy reading more of your own writing which is much more interesting than the old format you used with copy/paste.

Your reply to Azadeh's well placed criticism didn't sit well with me either, especially the part you said:

I am sure all of iranian women undrestand me weel and all of them get the right point by reading my blogs.

Obviously, at least one Iranian woman found your use of sexist language not justified.

I have to add that I also cringed when I read parts of this article. Some parts made me chuckle, some made me think, and I admired the way you put all the events in perspective too, but there were some uneasy moments there for me...

First, I am not sure what the picture that you uploaded had to do with the content. Lets just "zireh sibili rad konim" not too important.

More important than that: in my humble opinion, if you had used the words suggested by Azadeh, your article would have been less insulting to women. Some of the "khaleh zanakism" that you have mentioned obviously were perpetrated by men and by using the term, it sounds like you're blaming women even for the historical events and the various name changes after the revolution.

I am not going to even mention naming Irandokht who has nothing to do with khaleh zanak bazi :0)

Please reconsider your position and take the constructive criticism that was only meant to help you expand your audience and make your work less controversial and better received.

I am also an avid reader of your posts, a true fan. That said, I find Azadeh's critical comment well justified but your reply unwarranted or o'zr-e badtar az gonaah when you say: "I love old fashion of iranian literature, that which we call ''adabiat-e khiaban-i''!

Wasn't this very adabiaat-e xiaabaani-lumpan that got us where we are now:  "شهیاد شد آزادی،جنگ آغاز شد،بهشت زهرا آباد شد?"

Just a thought-experiment.

Avoid Misogynist Expressions

Dear "RedWine",

The pages of "iranian.com" are not only full of racist and sexist ideas, but also racist and sexist expressions and words. I usually do not object to them as they reflect the consciousness level of some Iranians in Diaspora or inside Iran, which will take time to be raised.

 Your piece is quite well-written and fresh, but contains offensive sexist expressions: Khaale-Zanaki and Khaaleh-Zanakism.

As a patriarchal / Phallocratic society, we have numerous misogynistic and phallocentric words, expressions, proverbs and stories in our literature. However, we now live in the third millenium AD and our language needs to change and reflect the spirit of our time. For today's women who are socially and politically aware of themselves and their history, the old-fashioned expressions of "Khaaleh-Zanaki", "Khaaleh-Zanak Baazi" and now "khaale-Zanakism" is sexist and offensive. Unfortunately, not only you use them in abundance, you also enjoy embracing them by giving the example of two women, Irandokht and Pouradokht, as possible first "khaaleh-Zanak" in the Iranian history.

We do have neutral and non-sexist expressions for what you want to convey, my friend. Why don't you use "Sokhan-Cheen" and "Darivari-Goo" (and Sokhan-Chinism) instead? And if you want to convey the idea of backstabbing, you may use "Sokhmeh Zani", "Sok-Zani" and "Sokhmeh-Zanism" (Zani from Zadan.)

اگر نیستند پس چرا چیزی نمیگویند

A hint... People are really badbakht now. At the time of shah people were happy and had the possibility to say something. They said and Hendieh came to the stage. But now things are different: repression is wild, after 8 years of war, and 30 years of badbakhti in general people are bored. They aren't happy and they don't have the possibility to say it. We have to change this we, iranians abroad. We have to do it first. We have to show that the time of repression is over and there are iranians who can say that enough is enough, basta, ça suffit, ... You'll see that oonvagt chejoori ina dareshoono mizarin. Too chi migui aziz?
