by Monda on Tue Feb 01, 2011 10:34 AM PSTfor your clarifications and educational comments. Personally Adore the French, they/You feel more "Real" to me at times, in expression of their/Your minds and passions. Even if against the Non-French :o)
To be honest.........
by Souri on Tue Feb 01, 2011 10:13 AM PSTFaramarz quotes are funny but are mostly "American's home-made" and we all know how much the Americans love to make fun of the French. I am all with Orang in this, and I loved the video he has posted below.
Monda jon: Yes I think of myself as an Iranian-French rather than a Canadian one. The reason for this is not only because my husband and sons are born in France, but because I feel more integrated to the French society than to Canada. I was barely 20 when I reached there and tried hard to integrate very fast. for almost 20 years I've been there, went to university the French, worked with the French, and watched the French TV.....Of course I do the same here since 12 years, but in fact there are more foreigners here in Montreal than in Paris......and I don't even watch the Canadian TV unless for the news. I still don't know the singers and actors here Vs. in France not only I knew almost every actors but also knew about their private lives :)
This is all this which constitutes the "culture". So, yes I still consider myself an Iranian-French. While my sons consider themselves as French-Canadians :)
Funny quotation and proud of it ;-)
by Orang Gholikhani on Tue Feb 01, 2011 12:46 AM PSTHi all,
Faramarz quotations are funny and it makes me proud to be Iranian-French ;-)
Actually to undrestand French position, you should remember thier 100 years war against British, Louis's war against Spanish, Napeolonian wars against all Europe to finish with World war I. They have proved being good and brave soldeirs. they had many success and failures as all armies.
Now people know really what is a war and its costs and false reasons. They do it only if they are forced and it makes me proud of living here, even if I came here by hasard. French army image is may be Louis De Funes in Gendarem St Tropez but I prefer it to German's or US image. I prefere French quotation Fais l'amour pas la guerre , Make Love No War.
I recommend you Boris Vian's song :
The Mark Twain quote is a Gem! :o)
by Monda on Mon Jan 31, 2011 10:44 PM PSTSouri jon, what do you think of Farmarz's "few" quotes?! If I may ask, Do you consider yourself French-Iranian or Canadian-Iranian? In either case, do you find the French jokes offensive? (2 be ham zani nist, just an innocent inquiry)

French Ban Fireworks at Euro Disney
(AP), Paris , March 5, 2003
The French Government announced today that it is imposing a ban on the use of fireworks at Euro Disney. The decision comes the day after a nightly fireworks display at the park, located just 30 miles outside of Paris, caused the soldiers at a nearby French Army garrison to surrender to a group of Czech tourists.
In conclusion...
