Vittorio de Sica is a a wellknown actor and the favorite face in our house, back in 60's and 70's.
We all know his grand movies like "Bicycle Thieves/dozd docharkheh" and " Miracle in Milan", "Two Women "....and other masterpieces. Vittorio de Sica is one of the kings in the sur-realism (Neo realism) in the realm of Cinema(movie) after the WWII.
Recently I was looking for one of the best movies I have seen with him: General della Rovere....
finally I'd to order it at eBay, because nobody had even heard about that old movie here. While this was only meant to be a gift for my sons, to educate them on war and its miseries, it brought me back some memories from the past.
I'd seen that movie, couple of years after the revolution (maybe in 1983) in Tehran. At that time, the movie was reflecting the horrible truth of our own country. I would suggest you watch the movie again, with a new outlook.
All Desica's movies are fantastic and very meaningful. I know, I look too old fashion to you, but just I think, we lost the essence of the real life in today's cinematography.
General della Rovere is directed by Roberto Rossellini. The film is based on a novel by Indro Montanelli which was in turn based on a true story.
The film tells the story of a petty thief (played by Vittorio De Sica) who is hired by the Nazis to impersonate an Italian resistance leader, General della Rovere, and inflitrate a group of resistance prisoners in a Milan prison.
The film won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.

popularity is a lure
by Orang Gholikhani on Fri May 15, 2009 01:27 PM PDTHe owns all private TV in Italy and as prime ministre, he controle other TV too.
He knows very well how to use TV & medias. it is why he is populare. You know Hitler was also very populare. Berlusconi has an alliance with "La ligue du Nord" the equivalent of "Front National" khodemon
Italians are not smarter than Iranian, Americain or French, all of them could be manipulate if the circumstance let it.
Other day I heard somebody saying : Concern is not the fact that people are different across the word, the concen is that they are the same with the same primitive reactions. It is just a question of circumstance.
Take care.
I know him
by Souri on Fri May 15, 2009 08:37 AM PDTI'd read some article about him, very few.
The surprise is that they say, he is very popular in Italy!! I'm not sure this is ture, because the Italian people are generally very smart and benefit from a very rich culture, despite the appearance of being a poor nation.
He tries to get popularity among the poor people by the way of provocate their nationalistic sentiment. Just like "Le Pen" khodemoun :-))
Berlusconi is not Italy
by Orang Gholikhani on Thu May 14, 2009 10:26 PM PDTI agree with you, I apreciat a lot Italy and Italians who culturaly speaking looks like Iranians.
This link and concerns are about Berlusconi not Italy. He is, as Bush was the ugly face of US, the ugly face of Italy, as Ahmadinejad for us.
wow!
by Souri on Thu May 14, 2009 02:09 PM PDTThanks for sharing this link Orang jan. I didn't know Italy was so much in demand by Immigration!!
It's a corrupted country anyway. Everything has a price, even the immigration :-)) and of course freedom.
But, nevertheless, I love Italy and think I will stay there for my retirement !!

It is the story of an Italian who is an migrate illegaly to switzerland for working and experience racisme. Very deep and funny.
Today Italian governement announced most restrictive laws about foreigners ! //www.lemonde.fr/europe/article/2009/05/13/en-italie-l-immigration-clandestine-devient-un-crime_1192633_3214.html#ens_id=1192643

Ghorbanat.
Orang
Ah, yes Orang!!
by Souri on Thu May 14, 2009 12:14 PM PDTFinally someone understand my feeling!
The Italian cinema was really on the top in 50-60's, unfortunately they couldn't afford the competition with the American, financially....and this is a huge pity.
Although Mastroyani had changed in the last years and I couldn't follow with him. I think he began to feel too intellectual!!
This movie of Vittorio deSica is one of the bests. I know it's not easy to find it. I could send you the DVD but not sure it will work with your Sekam system. Does it work?
PS: Sophia Lauren was my Idle (she still is :-))
