Two tomb chambers, which are said to date from early Sassanid era, have recently been discovered in Khorasan Razavi province, northeast Iran.
Located near Sabzevar, the tombs are estimated to date back some 1800 to 2000 years ago when people of the region practiced Zoroastrianism, a local official said, CHTN reported on Saturday.
Under the Sasanians who ruled form 224 CE to 651, a revival of Iranian nationalism took place; Zoroastrianism became the state religion and the government became centralized with provincial officials directly responsible to the throne, and roads, city buildings.
