MASTER FARHAD DORDAR: School of friendship
I think it’s no exaggeration and rather fair to say that since early 1980’s, thousands of martial artists of Iran and then Canada owe their growth and well being to one man. The man with the winning attitude and who has always been the very best in his long journey and the path he chose.
It was the years of mid 1980’s and the Karate Federation Of Iran wasn’t too kind to our school and our style that was known by then as ''Top Karate Academy . They tried to shut us down forever in numerous occasions, only because we were not following the Japanese rules and that we always would win the tournaments in all National levels.
It was only one man’s courage, passion and consistent hard work that saved our Academy in a basement on 16metri in Majidiyeh (Tehran) district.
The simple signage panel read: Karate-Ye-Dordar and once you walked down the stairs there was that familiar sharp smell of sweat, roaring instructors and students, hard work and commitment. Still the classes would go on, even with sudden blackout followed by Iraqi missiles landing and air strikes. The school I recall as school of ethical values, friendship and love.
The man who scored countless tournaments and has reached to the height of world title and became Shi-han (The Master), founder of prestigious style of Sport Kickboxing, also a humble smiling man is internationally famed as Shi-han Farhad Dordar, the Founder and Chairman of Kikara And SKF (Sport Kickboxing Federation).
When I moved to Vancouver last February, I was lucky to have found my old master after many years and later I was honoured to rejoin the Kikara school(headquarter)in Vancouver British Colombia under his mastership.
Shi-han Dordar is indeed, my Iranian of the day.
So if you happen to live around, come and visit us, and join our school of friendship.
It’s your school. www.martialarts.org / www.kikara.ca
