Hola from South America
Parisa and simon write: Greetings to everyone from South America. We hope that you are all well. It is hard to believe that we have already been away for over a month. We have been to some great places and have covered a good amount of territory. We began our trip in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. It is a huge and diverse city with everything from beautiful sandy beaches to favelas or shanty towns, right in the middle of the city.
We of course went to the famous beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana and visited the enormous statue of Cristo Redentor overlooking the city. Then, west to an island called Ilha Grande. Most of the pics attached are from there. We camped for 10 nights along the beautiful beaches, then went to a colonial town named Parati before our first mega bus ride - 25 hours - to Foz de Iguacu. Those are the spectacular falls but the pic only captures a portion of all the falls.
We actually took a day drip into Paraguay before heading into Argentina to see the falls from the other side. They were unbelievably spectacular and rightly so are one of the seven natural wonders of the world. We are now in Uruguay, and have been for almost two weeks. We spent a few days at Punta del Diablo -or devil´s point- which is a small fishing village in northeast Uruguay. It was rustic and muy atmospheric. The last few days we have stayed in quaint Colonia which is a UNESCO world heritage site. Off now to catch a bus to our last destination in Uruguay before moving back to Argentina where we hope to take Spanish and yes tango lessons.
All is well with us, good health, sunny skies, summer is on its way. Having a fantastic time and can´t believe that we have 8 more months to go!!
Adios for now. We will send another group mail in a month or two.
