On 15 June 1996 an IRA bomb destroyed parts of the shopping area in central Manchester. A few years later the city centre was reopened with some of the old architecture being replaced by new structures. As a result Manchester city centre is now a place where buildings centuries apart are standing shoulder to shoulder. Despite my original assumption, old and new are brought together in a contrasting yet compatible manner. Don't just take my word for it; see the beauty of this striking combination for yourselves. Let me know what you think.
