The game

Hi, I am from India, settled in the US. A very dear friend (Iranian) sent me this clip. I enjoyed it.
To the best of my knowledge there was no name for the 'game', it is more a vehicle to keep the kids interested - the teacher gives verbal clues and the children respond with an answer. We all have played different versions, Guess? is a modern game, as is charades (where the clues are really non-verbal).

I also had not noticed the spelling you have for Nargis (or were the names there before? with blogs you can never say; in contrast to 'paper'*)I had put automatically double g to avoid it being read Narjes by those whose 1st language is English.

Learning is more important than pride

The game they are playing in that film (unfortunately removed) is the game that I believe we call ' cheest aan?' and it starts with 'aan cheest keh..' and then describing the thing and waiting for others to guess the answer.
It is possible that the Indians in India call that game or start it with 'in che keh daana?'. That's why the meaning does not appear in the subtitles.
The other thing is that there are more than 100 languages spoken in India and following the presence of the British Empire the language that Indians from different areas use in order to communicate with each other today is English.
Any way a young Indian in USA should not be upset not knowing the name of a game that even the one who did the subtitles didn't know. And Monda I hope your sleep will be full of knowledge and the gratitude for acquiring it.

I can sleep better now :o) This is my most favorite Indian movie of all times. I saw it at least twice in theatres with my dad and don't know how many times on TV. I'm checkin netflix for it now.

However the Hindi language having many Persian words, it is actually 'in cheh keh daana?' which is the same as 'in cheh ast? keh midaanad?'
