PRESS TV -- World Cup futsal champion Brazil has been held to a 2-2 draw in its second friendly match against the Iranian national futsal team. The game was held in Sao Croso, Brazil on Tuesday. Majid Tikdarinejad and Mohamad Taheri scored for the Asian futsal champion which lost its first friendly against the host 4-2 on Sunday. The Iranian outfit, coached by Hossein Shams, will attend the Grand Prix de Futsal Tournament in Brazil where the top 16 teams of the world will be competing in June 2009. Iran reached the 2008 Futsal World Cup quarterfinals last October after displaying a brilliant performance that resulted in Iran being voted as the most impressive team in the tournament. Iran's national futsal team has been ranked fourth by FIFA in 2008 -- after Brazil, Spain and Italy.

Right, Majid!
by naetrom on Thu Apr 02, 2009 09:00 PM PDTFutsal was created here in Brazil and, as the word "soccer" in portuguese is "FUTebol" (yes, with "U". The word "Football" for us reffers to the American version - the Gridiron football, with the yard lines), we named the new version of soccer as "soccer in the saloon" ("FUTebol de SALão", in portuguese), reffering "saloon" as being something that happens "indoor".
Best!!!!
Jorge Mortean - The most Iranian of the Brazilians!

by Majid on Thu Apr 02, 2009 02:43 PM PDTIt is a footbaal game that's played in a "Salon", covered arena, with less players than actual open air football, the field is smaller, goals are smaller and so are the number of players, it's the same as "goal koochik" that we were playing in Iran
FOOTball+SALon = footsal or futsal
Futsal!!

I saw this fantastic futsal match on TV, on live. I didn't know for who I should cheer for, I swear!! I know it sounds crazy, specially when coming from a fanatic Brazilian soccer fan like me, but from the bottom of my heart I swear I've been half Iranian during that match. I was so enchantted by seeing my both nations playing together!!! Hope to see soon new matchs also in other modalities!
Sports are fantastically magic!!!

Good Thing!
by Immortal Guard! (not verified) on Wed Apr 01, 2009 07:20 PM PDTGood thing the Iranian futsal is not afflicted by politics like soccer. Maybe because it doesn't bring crowds onto the street!

by Majid on Wed Apr 01, 2009 04:19 PM PDTWhatever you do please don't "Tahmil" Ali Daei as coach!
I bet you anything if wagering (sharti, tighi) was an option Brazil had no chance....LOL
(That's how we were playing Goal koochik....tighi)
Joking aside, maybe that's what we need to focus on along with wrestling and weight lifting.
Apparently
by MRX1 on Wed Apr 01, 2009 01:47 PM PDTall the street football with plastic ball pays off!
Futsal is what Iranian know better!
by Bache Tehroon Forever (not verified) on Wed Apr 01, 2009 01:01 PM PDTI have been to Brazil (mainly Rio) few times. As a fanatic soccer player and fan, I played against locals and teams in two tournaments in Rio de Janeiro and let me tell you, Brazilians are out of this world.......... So the fact that we tied them 2-2 in Brazil is a fantastic news for Iran and Iranians. (Dameshoon garm)
Fantastic
by Jahanshah Javid on Wed Apr 01, 2009 12:51 PM PDTFor many years the great success of the Iranian futsal team has been overshadowed by Team Melli. They are among the best of the best in the world and deserve respect and appreciation. Dameshoon joosh!
