I'll enlighte you when you are ready for it. I give you a little hint. IRI had eliminated(still doing) all her oppositions in Iran, Europe, USA...., mostly known people who have fought IRI. Ebadi was/is by some means spared from any punishment that IRI usually use against anyone who is a danger to regime.
Doesn't appear to be unusual and suspicious!?
A better hint, she is a relative of Ali Khamaneie! Just think about it and don't come up with any cheep excuse to sympathizing with her.
PS: You will hear the truth about Ebadi very soon!

I am impressed...

by Abol H. Danesh (not verified) on

by the new look of Ms. Ebadi, the noble peace prize winner. She seems has lost considerable weight along with face lift perhaps making her look ever more "european."

However, with this increased europeanization in look when she enters any part of europe for visit she must enter the "non-european" line when she is presenting her passport to the guards at the check point of entery...

European~ Non Eurpean~ Euro money~

Peace for a happy medium between european and non european? Baby just kock it off and forget it for there is no peace prize in that area whatsoever!

"Btw, how many of you can speak out the way she does with her large profile and get on a plane and go back to Iran to face the fire?"
Our voice can not be heard here because nobody knows us, but she(Ebadi) is a known activist and is famous as Nobel prize winner, so her voice could be heard everywhere and can draw attention to many audiences around the world. Yes, if I was a known activist, such as Ebadi, I would speak out much better and louder than she does and I would fight the IRI by all means and not just "CHALLENGING" the regime in the way she does. Challenging is too harmless because we are dealing with Mullahs!
It is puzzling why she was choosen for the Nobel Prize in 2003, a deal bet/ IRI and Western countries?

She may not want to be a

by Bavafa on

She may not want to be a politician but her answers were just as much like a politician as any.

Having said that, I still respect her tremendously for having the "balls" and standing up to the regime. After all, she doesn't live in comfort in the west like so many of us and says "lengesh kon"

Darius Kavidar is a die hard fan of Mrs. Ebadi

"I have never been a die hard fan of Mrs. Ebadi ..."

Yes you have here is a link to when you said you were:

//i.com/kadivar-is-a-die-hard-fan-of-Ms-Ebadi

Now with all the injustices that is going on like Delara for example why would we want to "... convince her to join a larger coalition of democrats"?? Haa????

If she joins a "larger coalition" who is going to represent those who are actually in Iranian prisons as prisoners of conscious or other injustices? She defends political prisoners so let her be. Ajab bad-bakh-tea geer kardim ha!

Ebadi's profound effect

by Mazdak (not verified) on

What Ebadi is engaged in whether or not she knows it is much more profound than squabbling over what is true oppostition to the IRI. The people in Iran must learn what the rule of law, specifically secular law, mean rather than arbitrary application of power. A social contract is the first pre-condition of any democratic system. She is challenging the regime on its own constituion. This process of pluralism, negotiating for a power through a process,... all this needs to be learned. For too long, Iran has been ruled by arbitrary or dictatorial power. Btw, how many of you can speak out the way she does with her large profile and get on a plane and go back to Iran to face the fire?

It is good to be logical and not emotional. You have a wrong image of shirin Ebadi. One day soon when IRI vanishes you will know the truth about Ebadi and see her true face! Be ready for the truth, you will be shocked.

Darius Kadivar

Mrs. Farah Rusta, I disagree with your assessment ...

by Darius Kadivar on

I have never been a die hard fan of Mrs. Ebadi and expected much more from her during her speach when she got her Noble Peace Prize back in 2003. I did not appreciate her systematic attacks on the Opposition and the Monarchists in particular which only benefited to President Khatami and his foreign policy. But I also have seen her make move forward in her views particularly by demanding secularism as a pre condition to democracy and that Religion should be seperated from Politics. From that point of view she joined Akbar Ganji's stance since she defended him against the Islamic States establishment which was a Very bold move. I also saw her accept interviews with both Radio Farda and VOA Persian which both are considered negatively by the Islamic Republic.

So I would not be as harsh as you on someone who for better of for worse is working within the country and judiciary system as  first and foremost as a Lawyer. She also came in support for Simin Behbahani and the One Million Signatures Campaign for Equal Rights for Women.

I may not share some of her philisophical or political rhetoric but I believe that she is on the side of Democrats and Democracy in general.

Up to Us to convince her to join a larger coalition of democrats.

As Such I think that Mrs. Ebadi like other notable members of Iran's civil Society would be most welcome in a Solidarnosc Mouvement if it would take root in Iran like it did in Poland.

But She does need to also make an effort in distinguishing people who can be her real friends and allies from those potential opportunists within the IRI which belong to the "Islamist Intelligentsia" who are simply taking advantage of her international status in order to shift the real priority and that is Regime Change rather than mere reform which to date has only been a pretext to prolong the regime's survival.

Mrs. Ebadi is at worst a Moderate who abhors violence. but I do not consider this a shortcoming in her character. However in the ruthless political arena it may prove too idealistic in the face of the ruthlessness of the ISlamic Republic itself.

So the key is not to become "ghorbani" of the system or defenseless as a lamb ready to be sacrificed to the lions or I should more adequately use the term IRI Vultures.

Apart from that I wish her well and give her my full support in her endeavors.

Bravo Farah. You said it right 100%.That was my own catch from day first of seeing her on TV. I guess my 30 years of experience in pest control business is good enough to help me with such quick instinct!

Farah Rusta

A symbol of collaboration

by Farah Rusta on

Shirin Ebadi is the best representative the Islamic regime can present to the outside world when it comes to democratizing the face of the regime.

Is she a dissident? Then she must be a "dissident" the regime can comfortably tolerate. Poor Omid Reza Mirsayafi; he didn't qualify for a noble peace prize.

Thanks!

by IRANdokht on

I caught the second part of the interview on the radio today and was going to look for the entire interview tonight. It's great seeing both these ladies discussing these important issues, I have the utmost respect for them both, each in their own roles are solid role models.

Dr Ebadi is not only fighting the system from within, she has done a fantastic job representing the Iranian people in the world.

Thanks for posting
