AFP: Iran used a blistering attack to blow out home favorites China 70-52 with 19 points and 17 rebounds from Hamed Ehadadi, defending their Asian Championship and disappointing the hometown fans here.
Iran's relentless fast break attack was led by guards Mahdi Kamrany and Javad Davari who pushed the ball up court and attacked the basket either scoring themselves or finding teammates for open shots.
Iran jumped out to a 21-10 first quarter lead and never looked back as its suffocating defence stifled China's slow paced attack.
Memphis Grizzlies' towering 2.17 metre (7.1 feet) centre Hamed anchored both Iran's offence and disrupted China's attack while Davari finished with nine points and forward Mohammadsamad Bahrami added eight points and six assists.
"We played with a lot of heart, we wanted to defend our championship, we were hitting our shots and China missed a lot, so we win," an elated Ehadadi said.
"We wanted to keep moving the ball up the court, so we pushed and pushed. I am very happy to beat China in China."
Both teams came into the final match undefeated in play here in Tianjin, with China vying for its 15th Asian Championship.
The two teams, along with Jordan -- who beat Lebanon 80-66 for third place -- qualify for the World Championships in Turkey next year.
"Today we showed everybody that we are better, we fought hard," Bahrami said.
"But we don't want to stop here, we want to do something in world basketball."
China played without Houston Rocket centre Yao Ming, who is out with a broken foot.

Don't waste your breath on Mehdi.
He is one of the melted in Velayat, part of secret service system who is paid to defend the regime. As he noted himself to one of my responses (simin royanian video response) to him, he is not educable. Like many other uneducable people, all you need to do is to ignore him.
I just want you to direct your energy in the right path.
yolanda: calling people you disagree with IRI supporter
by Mehdi on Mon Aug 17, 2009 09:56 AM PDTIs that your solution to any views that collides with your views? You simply call the person with an opposing view an IRI supporter and that takes care of it? Where in my statement do you see IRI supporting? In fact I have asked this many times and people like yourself have nevr answered what or who IRI is. How can anyone be IRI supporter if you can't even define it? Even if I was an IRI supporter, whatever that means, does that mean I cannot ask a burning question? Don't you think your attitude is by far worse than any IRI supporter? Aren't you far more a dictator than anybody could even imagine?
Just seeing their proud

I am more confused!
by yolanda on Mon Aug 17, 2009 09:17 AM PDTI wonder why some people come to this site and defend everything IRI does, but these people live in US, not Iran! Talk is cheap, you need to show your "loyalty" to IRI with your actions.
I am confused
by Mehdi on Mon Aug 17, 2009 08:35 AM PDTAccording to a lot of people on this site, the IRI is an evil regime that does NOTHING good and just goes around every day and kills, kills, kills the innocent angels. These people claim that there is no freedom in Iran and nothing can be done except to pour onto the streets and destroy everything because the country is so damaged, so without law, that there is no civil way to ask for change. But if that is true, how could this team get to a point of actually winning another country? This doesn't make sense. Somebody is lying to us!

if the filthy akhoonds hadn't ruined iran, we would have been a powerhouse in soccer, wrestling, weight lifting, and a bunch of other sports!!!
I'm also love the fact that all the guys are clean shaven, basically saying a BIG BILAKH to the akhoonds and their dirty beards!
