emreekayee 'dream'
by shushtari on Fri Aug 07, 2009 08:37 PM PDTit is reality and history that is harsh....not my words
and I'm curious to know what is 'your' suggestion for getting rid of the akhoonds???
you think they are just going to say 'ok, i gues we're not wanted here, let's take our billions and bail..."? they only respect force, and, I am not for a civil war in our homeland, but the mullahs only respect force, you can send all the poor young, unarmed iranians into the streets and the result will be the same....
they only time the akhoonds have truly been terrified and peed in their abaas was in 2003 when they sent a letter to bush begging for a grand bargain...so they wouldn't attack iran...they were afraid they would be next
that is just my take on things....
shushtari, you writings are a bit harsh
by American Dream on Fri Aug 07, 2009 07:21 PM PDTThose political assassinations stopped in the mid 1990s.
As for armed struggle, the Mujahedin Khlaq did that and not only were they expelled from Iran, they will soon be expelled from Iraq. They are deemed a terrorist group by European countries, The United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Armed struggle won't topple the theocracy. Any type of armed struggle will be met with more force from the theocracy.
That being said, the I.R.I.'s candidates are not bringing real reform. The I.R.I. reformists are just window dressing.
Anyone who wears green is just propping up the theocracy.
It is high time, Iranians hoist a flag that says "IRAN" in the middle of it.

I would prefer the letters in Black but, whatever floats your boat.
the mullahs....
by shushtari on Fri Aug 07, 2009 06:38 PM PDTare so,so afraid of the truth that they will kill anyone who they feel is presents a threat to them....this goes back to 1978...when they started killing members of the shah's regime, and assassinating imperial army officers such as oveissi and shahriar shafiq in paris. they murdered bakhtiar, farrokhzad, and hundreds of other brave patriots.....they want to silence anyone who speaks the truth and can expose their lies and crimes.
the only way is to eliminate them, that's it, pure and simple.....gandhi's way will not work with these animals.....we need an armed uprising and then a war crimes tribunal for the ones that haven't been killed ;)

vildemose, not quite
by American Dream on Fri Aug 07, 2009 04:27 PM PDTIslam is not the problem.
montheistic religions can be practiced normally.
If Iranian Shia Muslim religion were practiced the same way President Bill Clinton or President Jimmy Carter practice Christianity that would be a step in the right direction.
That is the only way that Iran can be accepted by the western world.
Iran must have social freedoms similar to Amsterdam while having a democratic republic as their form of government.
Persia Pele is a famous Iranian actor. Iran should be as open as she is.

You think Iranians are
by vildemose on Fri Aug 07, 2009 02:43 PM PDTYou think Iranians are slaves to their leader because of religion. You wish they were not so servile to their dear leader and used their own mind, right? You wish they denounce being muslims altogether. I wish those dreams too but it would take time. You can't use a magic wand and change everything about a culture instantaneously.
I have no problem with Islam...
by American Dream on Fri Aug 07, 2009 02:35 PM PDTThe 1st Amendment of the United States constitution gives freedom of religion.
I have no problem with the religion of Islam.
Yet, this green symbol of some sort of reform is just one big joke.
Anyone who is a reformist in Iran or wears the color green anywhere in the world is either working for grand Ayat'Allah Khamenei or is being duped by the grand Ayat'Allah.
This Abbas Milani looks like a typical Iranian guy who burns "Esfand" in his house to ward off the "evil eye". He and his reform movement should just go away.
I dedicate this video clip to the reformers:

God Help Us All
by darius on Fri Aug 07, 2009 02:25 PM PDTIt is not Mousavi , it is people who want change .Mousavi , Rafsananjani and all others were surprised to see the crowd and thier
enthusiasm for change. When people whole heartedly shouting and
confronting the danger , reformist did very little to keep
the momentum alive ,instead of being firm and aggressive, they use Namaze Jomeh to ask for some sort of compromise. What a great idea that was.It was like telling " vazife ma bood beheshoon begim , hala ke goosh nemidan be ma dige rabti nadare"
Khameni and Ahmadinejad political move shows a new generation of
politician that are not even aligned with khomeini .This
new formation , has silenced the old guard of IRI by
letting them to build fortune or simply extorting them for their past
personal history including family corruption and personal short comings.
This new power house , showed his brutal and firm views by publicly
and openly firing on public, beating and jailing, kidnapping and showing how good they have learned lessons from their counter part CIA and Israelis.(I am not saying they are with CIA or Mosad. That would be the funny part if they really are and we do not know being fooled as usual0.
Ahmadinejad and his group have been planing this for a long time,
assuming these events were spontaneous reaction to losing election is simply childish .The quick reactions showed, after Mousavi 's objection to election, is proof of a well planned course .Ahmadinejad and his group knew , where, when and how to deal with it .They had penetrated the
oppositon group and well prepared to deal with it.They even had prepared secret detention facilites and kidnapping plan.Don't be surprised if some the demonstrators ar enow in Hugo's Chaves Jail.( sound familiar).Did you not see how they invaded homes, breaking sattelite dishes , destroying peoples property etc?Do you see
any similarity?
What Mr.Milani and Human Majd don't say is that people are left alone again and betrayed.Mr.Mousavi's message was not enough loud and clear .He kept his loyalty to the corrupted idealogythat has been
consuming the life of its followers and has been 30 years of misery for Iranian since inception.
As human Majd put it,people are angry that is what IRI knows well
but he didn't say, Velayat fagieh has no respect for anyone's right
because they are considered unfit to make decision and so what !Let them be angry , we know how to deal with it.
People have spoken and they are the heroes , They are who deserve to be saluted and thanked for.None of these sacrifice is to be credited to Mousavi ,Milani or else.We are the one who saying
" lengesh Kon".A brave and courageous Leader shouldbe (he/she ) out of comfort zone by now and start demolishing the foundation
of lies and deception.
American Dream: I get it.
by vildemose on Fri Aug 07, 2009 01:57 PM PDTAmerican Dream:
I get it. You hate Islam and wish it never existed anywhere especially in Iran. But it does my friend and it's not going anywhere soon. We can't change the religion of 98% people by our outbursts and temper tantrums.
Let the truth be told
by American Dream on Fri Aug 07, 2009 12:50 PM PDTWho could forget the following photo from the cover of the Economist more than a decade ago:
//www.payvand.com/news/03/nov/ahmad-batebi.jp...
What happened to Mr. Batebi and his movement?
They moved to the United States of America, never to be heard of again in Iran.
It is safe to say that the reform movement or what they call the green movement this time around is dead and gone.
What we have left in Iran are the reactionary movement and the conservative movement.
The following is a video clip that sums up the reform movement in Iran:
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zh6TsV4224
When Abbas Milani is the God Father of the opposition you know this is all one big bad joke.
With the name Abbas and green one can just imagine what type of reform this is... a reform of men wearing black beating themselves senseless and sacrificing sheep in the streets of Tehran.
Even Milani himself couldn't stop smiling
by XerXes on Fri Aug 07, 2009 12:22 PM PDTMilani couldn't stop smiling of the stupid comment that he is regarded as one of the major people of opposition. What a joke.
American dream: Why do you
by vildemose on Fri Aug 07, 2009 11:10 AM PDTAmerican dream: Why do you insist that Iranians are bunch of fundemantalist Islamist/terrorist zombified Ahmadinejad lovers??
Dear American Dream,
by shaayad keh on Fri Aug 07, 2009 10:56 AM PDTYou jump into conclusion so quickly. Although the green movement has been hit hard, they are still pretty much a huge and a strong force. In fact, they are so strong that now the police is wearing masks to hide their faces scared of being identified.
There is one sentence in your statements that alarmed me to respond to you:
"It is as if the Islamic Republic planned this all along."
This statement is alarming, scary, filled with conspiracy theory, but most of unfair to the green movement struggle.
It is very easy to wash all the movement's activities, the bravery, the killings and the torches by making that statement. It reminds me of daaee jan napeleon!
I do not know what the fate of Iran and this green movement is as of yet but it is only fair to call it as we see it. And you follow the news from Iran, while there is a lot of arrests, there is a huge resistance to this IRI.
Peace,
Shaayad Keh
"I object, your honor! This
by vildemose on Fri Aug 07, 2009 10:34 AM PDT"I object, your honor! This trial is a travesty. It's a travesty of a mockery of a sham of a mockery of a travesty of two mockeries of a sham." --woody Allen

What does this leave us with?
by American Dream on Fri Aug 07, 2009 08:33 AM PDTSo the leaders of the reform movement are in hiding and didn't show up to the swearing in of Iranian President Ahmadinejad.
The reformers are in court under charges of espionage and are divulging information that amounts to treason.
And the Pro-Ahmadinejad camp has support in Iran?
This all amounts to the strengthening position of the hard liners in Iran.
There are now 2 hardline groups in Iran: The Ahmadinejad group and the Khamenei group.
And the Reform group has been abolished.
It is as if the Islamic Republic planned this all along.
They will accept the candidacy of a reformer named Mousavi.
This will give the young people in Iran hope.
Let them get busy supporting their candidate.
And then make them lose thus dashing all hopes of reform.
What are the youth to do now?
migrate.
And Iran will become another 3rd world country like Mexico.
The youth, who are trouble makers will migrate and the problems of the IRI will cease. They will send money home to their relatives thus propping up the economy of the theocracy.
The youth, if plausible will return in their old age to Iran to retire and will in no way be involved in politics.
England sent their trouble makers to Austrailia many years ago.
With the age of colonies abolished, it seems that the story is the same yet the scenario is somewhat different.
"AXIS of PeefPaaf"
by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Fri Aug 07, 2009 05:10 AM PDTgod damn it i hate bush. he gave them a nice link, "axis of evil", to connect these protesters to Western fiddling and was it worth it? did it do any good? Again, thank you mr. obama for not following suit.
P.s. did you hear the news that Bush hired religious mercenaries, Blackwater, and begged Jacques Chirac to get into the Iraq war because of of Biblical characters Gog and Magog being at work in the Middle East.
//andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2009/08/gog-magog-and-the-iraq-invasion.html
Also, Hooman Majd has some kind of glow about him. He looks so fit. Thank god. I'm sick of looking at Charles Krauthammer. Milani looks nice too, except for the way they superimposed his body against that screen.
