This is really lovely. This Iranian man (I think his name is Alborz) is slowly putting together his reflections about his identity and life in the US and in Iran into short clips. He hopes to make a full-length movie sometime. This is what his website says about the project:
"People You Think You Know is an open-ended documentary project that began filming in Fall of 2007. So far it has captured over 100 hours of footage throughout the United States and Iran. As I continue to shoot new material and develop the project, this site will serve as a sketchbook of thoughts and resources, an invitation for viewer participation and a behind the scenes look at a feature-length film in the making." Excellent work
by Nazy Kaviani on Sun Aug 16, 2009 12:06 AM PDTDear Alborz,
You have done a remarkable amount of work, putting together something really meaningful and heartfelt. I loved watching your clips and I hope that someday you will have the money to finish your project, your labor of love for Iran. Your parents seem like such good and intelligent people and it is obvious through the images who has instilled this love for Iran in you. It is also clear how that love and your own art and determination are affecting and shaping up your project. Kudos to you!
Thank you for this lovely collection and best of luck to you.
Loved it ...

by People You Think You Know on Sat Aug 15, 2009 04:12 PM PDTAlborz here (you were right) from peopleyouthinkyouknow.com -
Thank you for mentioning my project and both of your kind words! It's really great to get positive feedback (or critiques) from everyone. I've been working on this for some time now, and only launched the site and the YouTube page about a month ago - it's fantastic to see people slowly find the project.
If you like, you can join my email list to get word on updates (new videos, writing, etc.) by contacting me through peopleyouthinkyouknow.com -- or just email me at peopleyouthinkyouknow@yahoo.com.
Thanks again and I hope all is well in your corners of the world.
P.S.: For your viewing pleasure, here's a scene from one of my favorites by Charlie Chaplin (with Farsi subtitles) //www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Im4f3Xnz78 This has been making the rounds in Iran during the turmoil.
