1) No. There was a lot of internal dissatisfaction. Plus a lot of foreign influence. People wanted democracy not Islam. They got lied to and cheated by Khomeini.

2) Yes the revolution was going to happen. No it would not have split up. 

3) United. There is 3000+ years of history.  In the past separations were not voluntary.

There are always hot heads who are going to try things. Without major foreign help they will not  succeed.  It will be a hard few years but I think Iran will make it.

Questions

Did the revolution of 79 succeed, because of the common religious belief in Iran, ie Shieism, amongst various ethnic groups?

Would this revolution have been successful if it were purely based on nationalistic sentiments? ie if nationalism was the only reason for the revolution, would Iran be dissolved into various little areas serving local ethnic groups?

Similarly, if the revolution were based on the will of people wanting democracy, would Iran remain united, or dissolved along ethnic lines?

I don't understand. If people truly want the Islamic from the Islamic republic, wouldn't they just vote for an Islamic government if a democratic platform was in place? Then why do we need an unelected council to determine who people can vote for? If it's needed to stop the public voting against 'Islamic', why call it a republic at all?

Any idiot should have been able to tell Khomeini was no "democrat"; nor "Islam" a path for our nation. No matter how much propaganda it was obvious that we were much better off with Bakhtiar. But due to some sort of vindictive selfishness JM was unwilling to support Bakhtiar and preferred the blood thirsty Imam.

Why bother reforming Islam? It is not our religion and we don't need it. It was forced down our throats at the point of the sword. Personally I rather not have a religion at all but if people really need one there is:

• Zartoshtianism
• Christianity
• Buddhism
• Various others.

Islam is not reformable because it is rotten at heart. Jesus preached love; Zartosht preached good thoughts; Muhammad preached hate and revenge! If you want a religion as a path to god there are much better ones out there right now.

Yes Khomeini was a total lying pig. In Islam it is perfectly fine to lie for Allah! What bothers me is that so many people were so naive to be fooled by it. After 1400 years of lies and misery we still had not learned that: nothing good comes out of Islam.

I was born some years after 1979 so I had do alot of digging around in the library to come to my own conclusions as to what the heck happened. A good book to start is Hamid Algar's Islam & Revolution-Khomeini's Writings and Declarations. And from khomeini's own lips and letters it is soooo self evident this guy blanketed the masses from 1962-1979 with HALF-TRUTHS AND LIES.  He painted a government that would respect human rights, freedom of press, freedom to public assembly, rule of law, civil society, and rights of individuals. Furthermore, he made it clear in those years that the clerics would NOT rule. And when 1979 referendum took place Democracy wasn't an option; it wasn't even on the table!!! It was Yes to I.R.I or No to I.R.I (god knows how many votes were rigged) but I feel the people who did vote Yes to I.R.I believed Khomeini was honest, truthful, and would not lie .~~ They were duped.

The Islamic science in Iran is as old as the science of KIMIAGARI which was a science trying to transform Copper to Gold!!! I ask everyone, would you waste your time and effort to even listen to someone that wants to talk about as if there is any scientific value to KIMIAGARI? most of the books that "Rohaniat" in Iran are studying are the beeks that are written by some about 1000 years ago. and this is the result we see! No one in Shiites version on Islam is not responssible for anything thay say today there is no accountbility and thanks to their own creativity they have placed an imaginary door to escape any responssibility. Khomeini showed and made it crystal clear for Iranian masses that there is nothing in Islam that could save them or could bring prosperity. We Iranians were/are right all along NOT trusting Islam and that is why we kept out culture and our believes and our language whatever is left of it. Khomeini good or bad selfless or selfish stupid or smart at least made that clear and now we know that we will never go back to Islam again.
