Shameful

by Farah Rusta on

I have utmost respect for Mr. Kadivar and believe he is the walking encyclopaedia of the art of film making. He is, by all accounts, a most outstanding film and theatre critic. Therefore, what I am about to write here is by no means a critique of Darius Kadivar.

Former Empress, Farah Pahlavi, was and continues to be a weakening influence in the House of Pahlavi. She never wasted an opportunity to put on show some of the most extravagant and at times obscene aspects of the royal life and the royal taste. From putting her weight behind the Shiraz Art Festivals with all its luridly sexy festivities to being patron of the openly gay fashion designers and their outrageous orgies to being the chief influence in the Persepolis celebrations of 1971 through to keeping the Shah in the dark about his fatal illness, the Empress has continuously provoked the public by challenging their religious and traditional sensitivities. In doing so she brought down the institution of monarchy and consequently the very dynasty to which she was admitted.

This film is yet another intentional blunder by a narcissist (former) Dowger Queen, who needs to glamorize herself in a vain attempt to revive or revenge the past.
