A 40 year old man who has celebrated his birthday alone by himself invites his four lovers to a dance class that he teaches in order to search for the roots of his own loneliness and by reminiscing the memories of how each of his love affairs were evolved and diminished, he realizes that the more the contemporary world has become sexually oriented the farther it has moved away from love >>> makhmalbaf.com

Mohsen Bollywood?!
by Anonymouso (not verified) on Wed Feb 18, 2009 02:40 PM PSTI suppose he wanted to make this scene to be poetic but sorry Mohsen Khan you just made a Bollywood movie!!!! It'll be unfair to judge a movie with a single scene but now I have a hard time convincing myself to go through the pain of finding this movie!
کارهای مخملباف
هنگامه (not verified)Wed Feb 18, 2009 10:16 AM PST
Many thanks Irannostalgia
by Ari Siletz on Wed Feb 18, 2009 09:32 AM PSTFor a while I got really excited that this could be a homegrown work. But Iran has a ways to go yet in film score.
Now that was hot!!
by Dee M on Wed Feb 18, 2009 04:40 AM PSTIn a very pure way! loved it.
Vanessa Mae
by irannostalgia.com on Wed Feb 18, 2009 02:08 AM PSTRegarding the music, I think its not original. He just took songs here and there. The violin track we hear in the clip I think is a Vanessa Mae track. In the credits they have these names: Nahid, Daler Nazarof and Vanesa Mai (which could be typical iranian careless with spelling or credits).
Even though I'm not a movie fan, there are couple of directors that I follow and one of them is Makhmalbaf. One of the fun memories in life that I have is when I had american roommates from a little red neck town in Nevada and one day I went to play the vHS of Gabbeh in the living room, thinking and hoping that I would be watching it alone. But they insisted they wanted to watch it too. Ha Ha. I tried to warn them, it will be slooooooooooowwwww by Hollywood standards. I think they were amazed that movies like that exit filmed in the countryside. They were definitly perplexed.
What a shame though that our best directors have to go to Tajikestan to film movies and then they cant even show them in Iran.
Were even less than Tajikestan.

Disappointed.
by Princess on Wed Feb 18, 2009 12:25 AM PSTI saw this film at the London Film Festival a few years ago. Despite being a Makhmalbaf fan, I thought I had wasted a couple of hours of my time. Very tacky!
Editor:
It's directed by the father of course. And unfortunately the full version is just as you are suspecting.
Cool clip
by Ari Siletz on Tue Feb 17, 2009 09:16 PM PSTAlso,
The flower should have fallen next to the watch. Iwonder why Makhmalbaf chose not to do that.
which Mehrjoee
by Editor (not verified) on Tue Feb 17, 2009 05:00 PM PSThas directed this? The father, son, daughter or the holly gost?
So far it is below a 3rd grade Indian production, hopefully the full version is not as boring. The editing sucks...
