Behzad Salimi

Weapons designer, born in Iran, alleges national origin discrimination

LOS ALAMOS (Associated Press) -- A former Los Alamos National Laboratory scientist is alleging the nuclear weapons lab fired him because he is of Iranian descent. Behzad Salimi, who worked for Los Alamos for more than two decades before being fired in March 2007, is seeking unspecified damages and reinstatement to his job. His lawsuit said he worked with classified and sensitive material for much of his career and has worked as a nuclear weapons designer and foreign nuclear weapons analyst. The lawsuit was filed in federal court last month against Los Alamos National Security, which runs the lab for the government. A lab spokesman, Kevin Roark, said in a statement, "We believe the actions management took in this matter were fully justified." Roark said it would be inappropriate to comment further because the action was a personnel matter and is pending in court>>>

Would you please enlighten us and tell us the facts of the case. It seems you are aware of all the facts. After Sep,11. many Iranians lost their jobs because of their Origin and none of them worked in nuclear technology area.
<< i think it's a little silly to say this is a cultural thing, especially in the us. or is that just more anti-american bullshit from a hamvatan who left iran TO live in the us? i hate it when people are such hypocrites!>>. Dear hamvatan forever, it is not bad to do some reading before falling into conclusion that saying the truth about USA is a anti-american bullshit. Don't forget that USA raped our county in 1953 by the coup and had destroyed the democracy in Iran forever. All Iranians living in USA and all over the world are the product of this rape!!!!.

and you don't know all the facts of the case either. i think it's a little silly to say this is a cultural thing, especially in the us. or is that just more anti-american bullshit from a hamvatan who left iran TO live in the us? i hate it when people are such hypocrites! i hate discrimination and i'd much rather someone just tell me "this is a sensitive issue and we feel it would be in everyone's best interest to assign you to another project". no. i don't blame americans for not wanting an iranian nuclear specialist. you might not like it but considering the extremely heated reactions regarding the israel-palestine situation by self-righteous iranians, i don't blame them one bit. NOT ONE BIT.

You are missing the point

The idea is that if you say you will not discriminate and call for sanctions on guys who do then that is a lie. No one cares if a prostitute is having sex, but a nun is important.

To be honest

I understand them. If I was in their shoes and Iran was my strategic enemy, I would not have let Iranian scientists work at a national weapon labs.

They should not have hired him in the first place.

He should return to Iran. We need people like him there in our own labs.

It is something cultural in USA that they use/abuse someone as much as possible then they throw him/her away like a piece of garbage. The best example is the Shah of Iran that for many years served as their servant and after using him they removed him form power and they did'nt want to have him even in America as refugee. If I was Mr. Behzad Salimi I would go back to Iran and work for my country.
