Ebi jaan - love your posts, gold as usual
by Arash Monzavi-Kia on Sun Jan 11, 2009 04:49 PM PSTGreat piece, he is very intelligent, smooth (as Kaveh said) and charismatic (sexy for the ladies). Apparently, he has lived most his life in US and has just become interested in Iran; perhaps like so many other of us post 911, axis of evil, Iraq-invasion crowd.
Hope he can have a positive influence on the US/IRI discourse, by showing them the other side's views, interests and capabilities, without becoming a pawn of either side's games.
Now, how would someone like Ahmadi-Nutjob view and utilize a Mr. Majd, is just guesswork to me, but knowing the fundamentalist mindset, a 'smooth front' comes to mind. In any event, as the flavor-de-jour is US/IRI negotiation (for Americans to have a safe exit from Iraq and for IRI to cope with the economic tsunami), Mr. Majd's of this world will shortly become indispensible.

Concerned Iranian ???
by Cocerned-Iranian (not verified) on Fri Jan 09, 2009 05:10 PM PSTDear Madam/Sir:
I have used the same name here for some time... :-)
Perhaps, using another name such as "Another concerned Iranian" for you, would prevent any sort of misunderstanding between our comments published here! :-)Happy New Year & Thank you.
does anyone else get the
by funtowatch (not verified) on Fri Jan 09, 2009 04:52 PM PSTdoes anyone else get the impression watching this clip that this david broccoli guy seems like he is about to have a heart-attack at some points during this interview? :-)
i love Hooman Majd by the way. what an intelligent class act. god speed.
Shame on you people!
by choghok on Fri Jan 09, 2009 03:48 PM PSTHow can you be so ignorant. You behave just like Islamic Republic when they have someone they can not tolerate. All this BS about his parents and roots. All the things about he is agent and his DNA is this and that. All this inuendos that can not be proven. You all seem to share more with the Mullahs you hate so much than this guy.
He wrote his ideas and story in a book and in his interviews and he is frank about them. Deal with it, stop being so childish and argue for your ideas.
Not everybody share your ideas about what Iran is and how it should be so stop calling names as soon as you see opposition. Don't be IRI 2.0.

Is Hooman Majd an agent of the regime?
by an informed Iranian (not verified) on Fri Jan 09, 2009 12:17 PM PSTDefinitely not! This is like asking if Khatami is an agent of the Iranian establishment. Khatami cannot be an agent of the Iranian establishment. because Khatami IS the Iranian establishment. By the same token, Mr Majd, in whose veins run the blood of two religious leaders (from both parents) is an inseparable component of the Iranian regime. How many of you can match such a "noble" geneology? And those of you who prefer to see the clerics or their offspring in a suit and tie, should remember that the one of the most smartly dressed men of his time in Iran was Ali Dashti who was essentially a former Feyzieh seminerian (Talabeh). So no surpise that the second or third generations of the Talabeh follow their fathers.
But there is also a dark side to Mr Majd, son of the Shah's last envoy to the Imperial ourt of Japan that hardly is remembered. For legal reasons I can only give you a few clues and let you guess the rest:
The seal of the Embassy of Imperial Iranian Government; anti-regime Iranians seeking to obtain a new valid passport to extend their stay in the US (1979-80); California Prosecutor issuing an idictment.
Now connect the dots
Another Voice
by aaminian on Fri Jan 09, 2009 11:40 AM PSTHe seems to be intelligent and I believe it's worth listening to him. He is telling another side of the story that you never here in the us corporate media. I specially like the fact that what Ahmadinejad said about Israel ("...being wiped off the world map...") has been (intentionally) mis-translated by news corporations.
Smooth
by Kaveh Nouraee on Fri Jan 09, 2009 09:57 AM PSTFor those who wanted to know if the IRI has agents here in the US....now you know.
Yeah Marge, he's great!
by Jaleho on Fri Jan 09, 2009 08:57 AM PSTI am all for more self-respecting unapologetic Iranians like this fellow.
A rare commodity amongst western ass-kissers representing us!

IRI agent
by Amouse (not verified) on Thu Jan 08, 2009 09:49 PM PSTSo is anyone actually going to believe that someone who was the official interpreter for both Khatami and Ahmadinejad was not at least checked out by IRI security for his loyalty? At least...
PR GUY FOR AYATOLLAHS
by Ayatoilet (not verified) on Thu Jan 08, 2009 08:20 PM PSTOf course he supports the Islamic republic he is a bonified Aghazadeh. Read his book and you will realize how desperately he wants the to fool Americans to love his polished version of the mullah establishment.
Interesting!
by Concerned Iranian (not verified) on Thu Jan 08, 2009 07:46 PM PSTThis gentleman sounds very smart. However, I am not sure. If he really is, then, he s supporting the Iranian government. If he is simply gullible then he is misled to believe the Iranian government is just like any other government. Being an optimist, I like to think that he is a bright young man who has unfortunately been misled.
Alas. Alas!
