Maybe you should follow your own advice? Everyone (including most Iranians in Iran I'm sure) believes that the IRI intends to build nuclear weapons. You believe it too. It's insulting and intellectually dishonest for you to try to pretend it isn't happening, just because nobody can prove that it is.
i just have a small question for "hate iri" types
by Anonymous8 on Fri Jul 24, 2009 12:15 PM PDTdo people who have been wrong about every single thing about iran actually know what they are talking about?
you all said people will boycott. nobody wants to legitimize the government by voting. iranians in iran disagreed with you.
now you say the system is not reformable and mousavi is an accidental non leader. you say nobody wants ahmadinejad.
we disagree again.
The System can not be reformed from within, Period!!!!
by mehdi2009 on Fri Jul 24, 2009 09:18 AM PDTHateIRI,
Thank you for articulating what most of us believe.
I agree whole heartedly with most of your comments, however, using your own argument one can plainly see that the system cannot will not be reformed internally. They had 30 years to do it, and the only thing that has happened to us is social and international misery, and economic ruin.
Mr. Aslan has some good mix of facts and theories, however there are many other avenues to further the discussion. No body is 100% right or wrong, and for the sake of our future generations we have to get rid of this 30 year old nightmare.
Salutations to all the young sons and daughters of Iran.

Disagree with Mr. Aslans assessments/analysis
by HATEIRI on Fri Jul 24, 2009 06:57 AM PDTMr. Aslan argues that there is a sign of military coup.
The military, Revolutionary Guard has been a key player as well as major decision maker in Iran's affairs. Therfeore; there are already well embedded inside Iran and policy making.
He also argues that the Mullahs and the more younger one are more open to the west. Who is he kidding? The mullahs understanding of economy, international affairs and politics is very limited. Their concern is mostly about power and their position.
For 30 years they had a chance to make a difference and they failed. Even the best CEO's who make mistakes once, they get fired for their jobs. These people have been in power for 30 years.
My argument the system must change, there must be done within the system by themselves and there is a need for an overhaul change from top down.

Reza Aslan is very smart
by Dariush on Thu Jul 23, 2009 10:59 PM PDTReza Aslan is very smart and articulate, but what is with the nuclear bombs comment? Does he know something that IAEA doesn't? Mr. Makhmalbaf also made a comment in Europe. He said, "we don't need nuclear bombs". What is that suppose to mean? Does he knows something that IAEA doesn't?
