AP: A spokesman for Iranian opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi has called on the European Parliament to pressure EU nations not to recognize the re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Iranian filmmaker Mohsen Makhmalbaf says Ahmadinejad's government and clerical hard-liners in Tehran are "endangering the peace" in the Middle East. He has told EU assembly lawmakers on Wednesday (July 8) to push EU governments to increase sanctions on Iran to protest the post-election crackdown against protesters >>>

Makhmal = Velvet
by sleuth (not verified) on Thu Jul 09, 2009 09:52 AM PDTCould this Mr. Makhmali be an agent of the Velvet Revolution? Hmmm... think about it.
Rosie jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan
by Jaleho on Thu Jul 09, 2009 09:31 AM PDTONE who has been correct, and continues to be correct and is in line with majority of Iranians, does count. The sore losers and few expats and shahis, don't count, so far as the Iranian affairs is concerned. Try to disgest that, while you're wearing a USELESS green scarf and have a hand in the hand of another USELESS fellow possibly wearing a green tie and a poster of Delara ;-)
You are an Iranian hero now Mr. Makhmalbaf
by masoudA on Thu Jul 09, 2009 09:24 AM PDTI for one forgive you for your role in the 1978 revolution - and welcome you back to the people side. What you did was very brave but more importantly was very sightful and EU must and will take note of every single word. Although - I do not agree with holding any kind of elections under the current system. A fair election is just impossible under this system.

Thank you DK, thank you
by Tehran c'est moi (not verified) on Thu Jul 09, 2009 09:14 AM PDTThank you for three things:
1. Excellent observation about Jaleho.
2. Making my morning by reminding me how good Woody Allen used to be.
3. Putting Makhmalbaf in the context of film making. He's a mediocre film maker whose oppportunism has brought him privileges and attention. Now he's biting the hands that fed him.

Traitors to the Iranian nation are KHAMENEI JALAD, MAHMOOD A.N. and all MALIJAKS who by supporting these criminals, support also the exactions committed by Bayteh Imam against Iranians living in the country. So Shame on you and your Fuck'n terrorist regime. You can bury your wet dream that mullahs own one day the nuclear weapon.

Jalehoooooooooooooooooo...
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Thu Jul 09, 2009 09:34 AM PDTdon't you see by now that out of all the numerous factions here which indded do exist, among the regular bloggers who have been here for more than say...oh....a few weeks (meaning a couple who sort of 'popped up' at about the time of the elections..)
you are a minority of one.
count 'em one.
and there is probably no one here (I said probably) but you who isn't at very least relieved that Makhmalbaf finally did this. ((and if they aren't relieved he did this, it's for reasons faaaaaaaaadifferent from yours...)
So...
just what are you trying to accomplish?
You haven't convinced a single person here. You won't convince a single person here. And boldfacing won't change that. So...what's the POINT? Can't you find a forum where you could brainstorm with those of viewpoints akin to yours, as well as perhaps win a heart and mind or two (though god knows where that would be..)
No need to reply. No worries. Consider the whole post just one long musing out loud to myself..
because you never...cease...to amaze me...
i mean, c'mon...let's suppose...i mean it IS theoretically possible that you are 100% right and everyone else here is from say 75 to 100 per cent wrong...
bolding will change this?
My dear little vegetable stew:

Sore LOSER turned TRAITOR!!
by Jaleho on Thu Jul 09, 2009 08:16 AM PDTdisgusting traitor is begging the Europeans and westernes to ignore not only the vote of 24 million Iranians, but also the 13 million supporters of Mousavi who are also for Iran's nuclear energy!
He's a representative of dirty neo-cons and bunch of Iranian expats in the west, not Iranians inside Iran!! Asking for more sanctions and pressure on Iranian people and calling himslef representing Iranians?!! Freaking LOSER, wake up. For your pathertic ego, you might get few claps from bunch of westerners who have been thristy for Iranian blood, but you are too DUMB to recognize that you and your western twitter revolt is FINISHED because you have no real base in Iran.
Not only he's a TRAITOR, he's also a DUMB DREAMER!!
Iranian Vaclav Havel?
by cyclicforward on Thu Jul 09, 2009 08:06 AM PDTWhat a great speaker. I am very proud of him. He can definitely hold the torch outside Iran and rally people around him.

Articulate and Passionate Speech
by minadadvar on Thu Jul 09, 2009 06:16 AM PDTI am glad that he is talking, on behalf of Iranian people. Very brave of him to be such a passionate advocate. I hope they do not harm him.
To The Point !
by Darius Kadivar on Thu Jul 09, 2009 04:25 AM PDTI think Makhmalbaf truly summed up the dillemas and challenges regarding this "Green" Revolution and what should be the role of the International Community particularly the European Union in regard to Iran today. More Power to Him !
