Such Naievete

by Kaveh Nouraee on

Is it a positive sign that these people are assembled in the streets? The answer is unclear. Who knows if there were any people planted there to gather information? It's obvious that at least some of those assembled thought so, because they covered their faces as the camera passed them by. And if that's the case, how will that information be used?

If they believe that their vote for Moussavi will result in positive change, they're entitled to feel that way, but there is a 30 year track record to contradict them. And all of the words of "support" from you pseudo-intellectuals will do nothing to change that.

It is naive for any of you to think that any substantive change will emerge from having Moussavi win the "election". Certainly, the rhetoric may end up being altered (somewhat), but to think that fundamental changes will take place is pure fantasy. The vote is not even close to being an actual referendum on the system of government. It's a vote on who will be "the face" of the IR, nothing more. It's superficial, a concept you phony intelligentsia are quite familar with.

What amazes me is how unbelievably gullible you people are as well.

Let's say Moussavi "wins" this farce. I wonder how many days it will be until the next Iranian child execution? The next stoning. The next hanging of a homosexual. Any of you "enlightened" people willing to venture a guess?

Shit, maybe they'll even take the cranes used to hang Iranians and repaint them green.

Nobody here talks about giving up. Voting means you want an islamic regime and not voting means the opposite. Your father was/is very right and that is the reason why we don't want to vote because voting will make the regime more stabil. The only way to get rid of Mullahs is fighting them everywhere, on the streets by all means(like the time of revolution in 1979), even killing them as they killed our people in the last 30 years. Nabardeh Mossalahaneh!
Freedom is always costly!

to finally stop them from stoning women

by IRANdokht on

we should stay home and not vote?!

if they were not trying and had given up Iran would have been a lot worse than what it was in the early 80s. Maybe you didn't live there back then. It was HELL! and you can't compare it to what Iranians' lives are like today. It happened over time, Khatami had a big role in that too.

To stop the barbaric laws, it takes a change in the government which will not happen if they stay home and give up.

wow, I am so glad you were not defensive dear hamsade!  I wouldn't have guessed by your insults-ridden response.

As before:

Note voting = misery

voting = hope and chance for a better future.

I suspect you are choosing misery because for some reason you have just lost all hope.  Sad, but happens.

The spirit of Iran's youth cannot be broken, they have hope, they will vote for the "chance" at a better future.

Iran does not need a revolution, thank you very much!  It will change from within and it will reform from within, and the people will eventually get their freedom.  You, Kadivar, Parham (and the rest of the cynical weekend freedom fighters) grab yourselves a big bowl of popcorn, stand on the sidelines, and watch.

Q

Fred, we are so lucky to have such a smart "pro AIPAC" analyst

by Q on

as you.

As you are a self-labeled "pro AIPAC", surely you have unraveled a big flaw in this game to the benefit of Iranians.

As you can clearly see in the video, everyone is paid to be there just for the camera. In fact, just outside the view of the camera, there are Pasdars with aimed rifles, just to make sure people look right for the camera. The motorcycle that is carrying camera is also carrying a mobile teleprompter so the people in line can know which songs to sing!

All other videos are fake too.

There is no other reason Iranian people would go to the street other than cash payment.

Once again, everyone is amazed by the extent of your intelligence and pro-AIPAC "care" and "respect" for Iranians.

the gall of some people

by hamsade ghadimi on

as i’ve said in other comments, voting (and population) among expatriates will be (is) insignificant compared to the voting (and eligible voters) inside iran.  a cursory look at statistics and basic analysis will demonstrate that iranians' participation outside of iran will have insignificant results on the outcome of the elections in iran. so while you and these akhoondzadehs who in one breath use american slangs and primitive voting and boycotting arguments that are used in the west, you all are quick to insult and dismiss the expatriates opinions.

this is not an all or nothing proposition as in: “you’re either with us or you’re against us.” those who are not voting are not “panicking” as you say, many of these scare tactics are used by telemarketers and door-to-door salesmen who are peddling inferior products. while these iri apologists spam the heck out of us, we’re just amazed how someone from your vantage point has the gall of accusing us to stand between iranians and freedom. i might add that i’m responding to you in a very “relaxed” manner. and you say “it takes many tries my friend;” well, how many tries until they stop stoning women. give me an estimate.  do you think that mousavi will reform the constitution so that the president have more power over the judiciary or foreign policy or for anything that matters? or is he just supposed to be a more polite version of ahmadinejad? before you do any soul-searching or read over the manual to answer those questions, keep on "rocking the vote" and fine-tune your "us-versus-them" doctrine.

With all this many FRIENDS for Iran, who needs an enemy?

حقیقتی که به زودی آشکار خواهد شد!

Heshmatollah (not verified)

maybe you didn't call them stupid, but others have

you think it's better to give in and give up? I don't! and I am glad that the people of Iran are not giving up no matter how many times they have been disappointed. What's the alternative to trying again? sitting home and secretly wishing that US would attack them like they did in Iraq?

it takes many tries my friend. I remember my father had an expression that went something like you can never take anything from an akhound... they're trying to get their country back lets wish them luck and support them!  saying they can't and nothing will change is not constructive.

they are not stupid. and they weren't stupid when they voted for khatami (2 times). they're hopeful, and those who will not participate in the voting (like me) believe that these people will be let down again. so before you claim victory and put up your "mission accomplished" banner, let's see what reforms will actually take place if a reform candidate is selected. otherwise, your definition of accomplishment is the same as the oppressive akhoonds who just want to affirm their legitimacy by showing these scenes.

Dear Roshanbeen

by IRANdokht on

It's true. This is exactly why they're panicking and calling everyone stupid and IRI supporter. With every person moving towards a better future for Iran, their chances of installing their beloved regime via US and Israeli bombers die a painful death. It's quite disappointing for them to see that people can actually have a voice and that nobody wants these rejects anymore. The young Iranians have spoken and they're the ones who will steer this ship forward.

Some people are either blind or stupid or blind and stupid. If you see in this video clip that in IRI's Tehran people can stand on the streets, smile and shout against the ruling radicals, hand out fliers and be excited about their own future, is just because of the election, they need them to show the world that Iranians want to have the Islmaic goverment in Iran. Let's see what happen to people after election(Vaghty kh Khare akhundha az pol gozasht) when they(same People) go on the streets and ask again for freedom. They will be hunted by IRI's police like rabbits and.....you know the rest of the story since we had it for the last 30 years.

PS: My recommendation to IRI supporters is not to try to fool people because after the election and disappointment it will be very hard for you guys and gals to pop up in Iranian.com and show your vatan frosh and Khaen faces.

as I was writing my previous comment a few more were added here. It's amazing to see this much resentment and contempt for Iranians.

I am so glad some people were removed from Iran's society (if they ever were a part of it), their negative attitude and festering hate would have infected the rest.

to see that in IRI's Tehran people can stand on the streets, smile and shout against the ruling radicals, hand out fliers and be excited about their own future?

I agree with Mohammad petgar's comment , this type of excitement was seen back in 78/79 too but it was derailed and ended with disasterous results.

This is how people move forward, they don't just sit home and throw their arms up and give in! They get involved, they gather in short notice and they do what they can to make the changes they desire more reachable, step by step.

This video clip made me very emotional, I am so proud of the young generation of Iranians.

This is what exactly IRI was planning for this time. All in "chains" that is. Standing orderly in chains is a clear sign of “New World Order” success per Bush senior. The very contagious “JAHL” virus is thousands times more deadlier than “AIDS” virus.

Last time around Rafsi had rollerblading youths, mostly young girls wearing heavy makeup with his pictures plastered all over them, swoosh around in front of foreign TV reporters .

This time around he is being more practical. BTW, where the monies for all the “campaigns” literatures, travels, logistics and advertisements are coming from?

Gerenation Gap is Closing

by Mohammad Petgar (not verified) on

We, as the first generation of Iranian revolutionaries did experience a sense of shared destiny, hope, selflessness and change manifested in endless street debates, get-togethers and later during Iran Iraq war. We laughed, cried and conquered and in all that, we LEARNED more abut ourselves.

Then revolution got derailed and imposed its heavy umbrella upon us. Being exposed to such experiences and ensuing soul-searching, we got to KNOW ourselves better. We acquired a different perspective upon life, drastically different from what it would have been if we had not experienced that collective sense of destiny and selflessness.

This generated a generation gap which have been looming out there and confusing the nation. Nowadays, no matter what happens after this election, at least the gap is closed considerably. This generation is experiencing the same kind of excitement, joy, collective conscience and sense of destiny that we did. We are getting more mobilized and focused as a nation. Confusion is being transformed to clarity.
People who have been advocating boycotting of the election should not underestimate the power of hope and desire to change. They have to ask themselves, no matter what happens after the election, if they prefer to see an Iran with or without these street demonstrations. I prefer the former, do you?
The fact that reformist destiny is, for the first time in the last 30 years, intertwined with the destiny of their voters, gives me good reasons that they will keep these people in the loop. They will keep their massive voters as a force to reckon with. They will not refrain to brandish them privately and openly to remove obstacles to reform. After all, this is all they have got left.
