Iran on "Global Trekker"

"Iran like you have never seen it before"

Ian Wright of Global Trekker TV progam makes an expedition into Iran. Excellent, different, and with a great sense of humor! The time taken to watch this is well-spent!

Peykan

Anonymousity: T-shirts

by Peykan on

Thanks for the exact date. As far as I know and have seen on the news clips, movies, etc. men wear short sleeved shirts anywhere in Iran nowadays. There might be some restrictions inside some Islamic shrines or mosques which you should check with your guide.

Filmed in 1994

by Anonymousity (not verified) on

This show was filmed in 1994 (called "Lonely Planet", now called Global Trekker).

//www.imdb.com/title/tt0801970/

Please tell me, can men (tourists) wear short-sleeved shirts? One tour organizer says only long-sleeved, but I don't believe this.

Abarmard

Agree, this is a old film

by Abarmard on

It's amazing how much the country has changed in less than a decade. This film comparing with newer films are the proof.

The host is very friendly and warm and that makes it interesting. Thanks for the post

Too Much IRI propaganda!

by Sassan (not verified) on

In part one, the Iranian guide says that the revolution was good because now there isn't any drugs, alcohol or parties in Iran.

What a joke! Iran has the highest per capita heroin addicts in the world and booze is everywhere, and on my last trip, some of the parties in Tehran are 10 times more decadent than the parties in West Hollywood!

And all the rest of the jibberish about Khomeini's tomb and the blatant negative misinformation about the Shah, it was all just too much IRI propaganda!

gol-dust

Very good! Bam was not destroyed! People wouldn't drink! OLD!!!!

by gol-dust on

Very good show. I feel bad for they guy who justified the revolution saying People don't drink!!!! he should have said today that people started drinking and dating after the revolution!!!!

in the taxi when he was rubbing against the guys, TARSEEDAM KEH KAARI BEH DASTESH BEDAN! Good thing it wasn't in Esfehan or ghazvin! He is cool though! Enjoyed it!

I concede with the people below...

this /is/ actually 100 years old... (internet time)

;)

It's good nonetheless. Oh and I love how Peykan mentioned the peykans. Sweet irony!

Peykan

Ancient Iran

by Peykan on

Based on the number of Peykans on the streets, the portrait of Rafsanjani on the walls, the ladies’ style of manteau and the intact Bam citadel, I would say this documentary is shot in the mid 90s.

Can someone tell me the definitive answer on whether or not I can wear short sleeved shirts when I make my trip to Iran (soon, I hope.)

This guy loves Iran

by Anonymously for now (not verified) on

I think he did a good job and I saw places I have never been to myself.
This guy loves Iran and any countries where women are hidden and excluded from the social scene. He just loves it where he's the most feminine thing around... ;-)
