Goals.com: Ali Daei has been fired as coach of the Iranian national team following their 2-1 loss to Saudi Arabia in yesterday's crucial 2010 World Cup Qualifier. Iran's conceded two late goals in the match, and the defeat leaves them struggling to qualify in fourth place in Group Two with just six points from five games. Iran's official state agency, IRNA reports that the Iranian Football Federation (IFF) felt they could not ignore the pressure from both media and fans >>>

by Tell It Like It Is (not verified) on Mon Mar 30, 2009 08:20 PM PDTDaei, The federation, the government, all deserve the same. The federation has not done crap for the past 30 years to improve the conditions for a a better product. The government has not provided the needed essentials for developing players. Ali Daei is only famous for scoring 100 goals on countries that nobody knows. If Daei is the best player and the best coach that we have had, then it is no surprise that we are where we are on the international football map.
Gol-dost
by Anonymous9999 (not verified) on Mon Mar 30, 2009 08:18 PM PDTGol-dost, how can you defend Daei if you don't follow football? He knew himself that he was not the right man for this job, but he saw the opportunity to sit next to Mullahs and use them to make a lot of money. He sold his honor to Mullahs and Money. He lied many times and the mafia supported him. Do some search and convince yourself if it is right to blame him or not. Namak Nashnaas? How he got the Millions of dollars? From our Nammak!
Is it fair to blame Daei for the loss? How about the Gov. & fed
by gol-dust on Mon Mar 30, 2009 07:52 PM PDTeration? I really don't follow football but I know that much that this government and the bearded federation for all sports are bunch of BI LIAGHAT! Remember, how late they chose him? Remember the problem they had with ali parvin?
So, I find it very unfair of the fans to insult Daei so much! Don't be so NAMAK NASHNAAS! After all, the man might not be the best coach but he made Iran proud for many years for his outstanding skills!
can you believe insulting the man like this? Iran & the federation had to fire Daei so they can blame him and divert attention from themseleves!
Agebateh Chaploosy !
by Anonymous8888 (not verified) on Mon Mar 30, 2009 07:30 PM PDTHe was hired by Ali Khamaneie and fired by Mahmood Ahmadinejad. He got what he deserved.

Good player but bad coach
by wtf (not verified) on Mon Mar 30, 2009 05:06 PM PDTFiring him was the right decision. Ali Daei was a good player but bad coach. Being a good player doesn't necessarily qualify one to be a coach and I think he learned the hard way.
I am still one of his biggest fans though. He is the man!
khoob soltani khordeh!
by ali33 (not verified) on Mon Mar 30, 2009 04:50 PM PDTit's pretty apparent that this guy has been fattening up with the bache akhoonds....so much for integrity and class
this is not fair
by bu Mubarak (not verified) on Mon Mar 30, 2009 03:31 PM PDTthe guy didn't even have a year. he, sorry, correction ANY COACH of ANY SPORT NEEDS TIME. Jose Mourinho, had two years with Porto to win the Champions league. And that's a European side, so Iran or any Asian side will take longer. That decision is so stupid. Germany lost before the World Cup in 2006, and they didn't fire Jurgsmen. If the IRI iranian football association keeps firing Coaches then how the hell do you people expect Iran to have any consistency. Absolute bullshit I swear.
BRING DAIE BACK!
hmm...
by reality check (not verified) on Mon Mar 30, 2009 03:28 PM PDTbased on that picture, ali daei, surely gained weight, behesh khosh meigzareh.
Where was Haji Firooz???
by Immortal Guard! (not verified) on Mon Mar 30, 2009 03:17 PM PDTWhere was Haji Firooz???
Deserving.
by Tell It Like It Is (not verified) on Mon Mar 30, 2009 02:55 PM PDTDon't feel sorry for this arrogant, overrated as a player, and a stinky coach. He has been enjoying a life of a celebrity and abundant favors and contracts from the government for years. He couldn't coach in a YMCA league if his life depended on it. So long and just GO AWAY! LOOSER.
Ali Daie + Ali Kamanee = Dozd & Jaanee& Mozdoor
by Anonymous**** (not verified) on Mon Mar 30, 2009 02:45 PM PDTWe need to fire Ali Kamanee too before he puts Iran on fire just like Ali Daie that burned our football.
Maybe you're right, Daei
by Assal B. (not verified) on Mon Mar 30, 2009 02:35 PM PDTMaybe you're right, Daei wasn't the only problem. But, he definitely wasn't part of the solution. Afshin Ghotbi, you could have taken the raw talent the young members of this hard-working team had to offer and you could have molded them into world-class players like you molded Persepolis. Too bad Daei was the pick and Karimi was absent ... too bad we won't be going to the World Cup... too bad in four years, amazing talents like Karimi, Nekounam, Shojaei, and the rest will no longer be in their prime. Too bad...a lot of things. Now, I guess I'll have to cheer on Messi and Argentina o Ronaldo and Portugal...even Team USA is worthy of cheer..Iran, chera gand zadin?

Daie was not the problem
by soccer fan (not verified) on Mon Mar 30, 2009 01:49 PM PDTAs I said in another blog, when Saudi Arabia fires coaches it is because they spent millions hiring a world class coach, gave him all he wants as far as equipment and facilities, they played world class leagues, and the coach still didn't give them results so they fired the coach.
With Ali Daie, they gave him nothing. Obviously he is not a world class coach, and he doesn't get paid in millions, and he didn't have everything he wanted as far as friendly games and etc.
No problem Ali Jaan ;0)
