Ironic...
by Michael Mahyar Hojjatie on Fri Mar 20, 2009 05:46 PM PDTJust how fast it transitions from girls dressed freely to girls wearing hijab in less than a minute!
Some say "Last summer of freedom"
by lllllllllllllllll (not verified) on Mon Mar 16, 2009 07:55 PM PDTI guess some were free then in Shah era and some are free now after revolution. This is how many take advantage of "Freedom".....And that is how "Freedom" looses it's sense in the neck of the woods!
Looks like Iranians have grown up so much now out of their geographical bounds.
great???
by IRANdokht on Sun Mar 15, 2009 12:54 PM PDTMaybe as a rarely seen footage of those dark days and from a purely journalistic point of view.
This clip brought back the tears, the fear, the pain and frustration that I felt those days... I hated it then and I hated watching this footage now.
IRANdokht
wow it is great!
by nostalgia (not verified) on Sun Mar 15, 2009 08:17 AM PDTI believe in order to move ahead we have to look behind to see our mistakes. so sad most of these girls and young men are dead, by the hand of the revolution that they supported.
fantastic
by Iranboy on Sun Mar 15, 2009 02:33 AM PDTThis shows how naive the the people were;
BTW, many of these guys are dead; either in IRan-Iraq war or executed. Many of them are refugees and many of them are struggling with life in Tehran
Painful to watch those girls: many tortured & killed by Khomeini

Most Appropriate title for the clip. Thanks. farhad.
meet the Kharavan residents
by farhadr (not verified) on Sat Mar 14, 2009 12:17 PM PDTMost of those people are dead now. just a short while later, they rounded up all those handing out leaflets and papers and arrested them. then they kept them in jail for several years. then they executed them over night.
if you want to know where they are now, look at Khavaran.
why was it removed from youtube?
by Lucofercus (not verified) on Sat Mar 14, 2009 04:46 AM PDTMay be because we "IRANIAN"s are purely forward lookers? 7ty millions Iranians held themselves by head and say: were we realy soo NANAJIB? God save!
And their word counts. I am sure.

Amazing Footage
by PashaLJ (not verified) on Sat Mar 14, 2009 12:46 AM PDTI can not believe IRIB actually showed this footage!! This is the same TV that used to censor children's cartoons... This was the most real, unbiased documentary I've even seen on the days of the revolution.. no propoganda.. simply a close look at the lives of Iranians few days after their Islamic revolution... it sure seemed utopian.
Seems like they finally decided to open National TV's archive and let out some of these gems. Finally! We may have to thank BBC's Persian TV. It's forcing these guys to come up with some aces of their own.

Life on Mars
by Peykan on Fri Mar 13, 2009 04:44 PM PDTA fascinating time capsule which demonstrates Kianoush Ayyari’s keen eye for cinematography, early in his career. It’s also interesting that the documentary has apparently been broadcast by channel 4 of IRIB.

To bk
by Reality sucks (not verified) on Fri Mar 13, 2009 01:19 PM PDTPeople might be extremely religious in Iran as you say and may want religion involved as a very significant part of their daily lives but I doubt it very much if majority wanted a religious government (where the state is founded on religion) to rule over them or to dictate religion to them back in 1979, much less now after 30 years.
It doesn’t matter what
by bk (not verified) on Fri Mar 13, 2009 01:03 PM PDTIt doesn’t matter what happened before. What is going to happen in the future? Do people dislike what is happening in Iran now? People cry about lack of freedom, but they don’t exactly define what kinds of freedoms they want. People in Iran are very religious and most forms of freedoms which are being sought today go against their religious belief. For instance women are not allowed to show their hair and need to be completely covered. Isn’t this religious? Isn’t speaking against religious government and religious edicts a form of blasphemy and punishable by death? I think people in Iran need to make up their minds. If they want religion they need to define which parts of it they want.
They looked so happy!! Only
