Ladies with backbone claim our wages!
by Krisana (not verified) on Wed May 13, 2009 02:58 PM PDTBaroness Afshar says that Muslim women have always been entitled to wages for housework - this is great - all women should claim our cheques now - the money to come from every government's military budget.
A lady with a backbone!
by Jaleho on Wed May 13, 2009 01:24 PM PDTSuch a contrast to so many "westernized" Iranians abroad who are ashamed of who they are, what their religion is, their clothes, their own scientific or engineering achievements, their background...
you know, the type that have to immediately inform you that they are atheist (be it relevant or not), that they are not Ay-rabs but Pershi-AN, that they don't have anything in common with the Iran of the last 14 century, they are children of Cyrus the great, not their own freaking Muslim parents :-)
Such a strong character standing like a tall tree against the ignorant racism of her time!

Iranian in UK where the Mullahs get their lessons!
by Anonymous-Payandeh (not verified) on Wed May 13, 2009 08:49 AM PDTSomeone needs to ask Mrs. Afshar(the so called professor)about the way her people in Iran became Muslim. I'm sure she does not know about the genocide that Arabs committed against us Iranians in order to coerce us into ahrimanic Islam.

by Anonymous-kaveh (not verified) on Wed May 13, 2009 08:27 AM PDTSome people are so funny with their islamic tough reddish rind and five seeds from many seeds that they might have! They accuse everyone of being a prejudice without knowing that they are the source of prejudice and their religion itself is a prejudice idiology. What is the meaning of prejudice words like, Kaafar, Molhed, najess etc.?
unverified questionmark
by MEHRNAZ SHAHABI on Wed May 13, 2009 07:18 AM PDTNo, that is not what I am saying, although some might hear it that way depending on their prejudices. To be an Iranian you don't have to be a Muslim, or Persian for that matter!!!
What I did say was that she is a woman who is very culturally aware and conscious, she knows her country and her history and her Iranian identity and is a well respected feminist and Professor and a Lady in the British Upper House, and because she know who she is, she is unafraid of the ignorance of people like you, and so she is a proud Muslim. She is not intimidated by the fascist propaganda fabrications of "Islamofascism" and knows that she can be a Muslim and not wear the Hedjab and she can be a Muslim and a feminist and a successful woman.

by MEHRNAZ SHAHABI on Wed May 13, 2009 12:32 AM PDTThank you. If you want an Iranian of the Day, then this lady is a model we should be rightly proud of. She is a proud Muslim and a well-respected feminist professor who actually HAS studied and worked with what she is talking about!
