Very touching to see how nice people are to them, one of them taking them into his home and feeding them.
In Maku:
Another clip of these guys in an Iranian woman's home in Tehran:

I am one of the hitchhikers in th video
by Espen (not verified) on Thu May 28, 2009 01:52 AM PDTHi. I just by coincidence discovered today that this video made by me and my friend was put on this webpage.
In 2005 me and my friend Matias hitchhiked from Norway to China without any money. We played guitar on the street to earn what we needed. On the way to China we travelled through Iran and this videos show some of what we experienced there.
I can definately say that Iran is the most friendly country I have ever visited. (Ive been to aprox 50 countries). The people in this country showed us hospitality like I never have experienced before. All over the country we were invited in their homes, they gave us lifts in their cars and shelter in their houses.
I can truly recommend Iran for tourists all over the world.
What's wrong with you people?
by Ali Lakani on Thu May 28, 2009 01:20 AM PDTWhat a bunch of racist and self-deprecating nonesense some of these comments are! Iranians are loving and kind to guests. That's what you see here. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for taking something so beautiful and so meaningful, and turning it into another subject to sling hate toward your own nation.
These tourists obviously have a lot more respect and appreciation for the kindness of your fellow countrymen than you do.
What a badbakhtee!
by Anonymous-azad (not verified) on Wed May 27, 2009 06:49 PM PDTYes give the whole county to foreiners and be proud of doing it and say "Iran is a blessed nation indeed". When I see something like that and read the comments here automatically comes the Ferdowsi poetry in my mind:
Az Irany va az turk va Arab
nejadee padeed ayad andar meaan
na dehgan na turk na tazee bovad
...............etc
bekooshand va keshvar bh doshman dahand!!!!
Why are so surprised? To be otherwise is not being Iranian!
by gol-dust on Wed May 27, 2009 06:00 PM PDTI remember during the Shah, as a teenager working at nite on taxi. One nite about 1 Am I got this man and woman american passengers looking for hotel, but couldn't get a cheap one that was available. I took him to my sister's home who were on vacation. They refused to sleep on their bed, and they slept in their own sleeping bag. Of course, I refused any money for that! But, i got my taxi fee which was about seven toaman.
Of course, you do that more to foregners since they are guests and i didn't want to give a bad name to iran! I would do it again after 33 years. I appreciate that more now than then.
I was given a place free one time in Sanandaj, kordestan! Without this hospitality, we would be Iranians!
Priceless jan

by shirazie (not verified) on Wed May 27, 2009 09:19 AM PDTI am not a religious person. But the Mosques were designed to be free hotels for travelers in old days.
Also guest is consider a gift from God in Islam (of course we know the Mongolian did not make good guests)
we are nicer to strangers than to our own family
