BBC: Iran says it has successfully test launched a mid-range surface-to-surface missile, state media has reported. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the Sajjil-2 missile used "advanced technology" and had "landed exactly" on the unspecified target. He was speaking in Semnan, from where the missile, with a range of 2,000km (1,240 miles), was reportedly launched >>>

Russia and China are now pushing for dropping the $US as a reserve, and adopting a basket of currencies. Recent begging by Clinton of the Chinese, to buy MORE US debt. The refusal of the Chinese and their current massive buying spree of US property, with their HUGE mountains of soon to be worthless $US. Rights to China recently upon their demand, in order for them to send in Chinese troops to secure their investments.

Israel will not last another twenty years, according to the CIA.

As some have already stated, Iran's military or nuclear advancement is a sticking point for the west because it simply takes away real consequences from attacking Iran at random. If the west didn't have ill intensions, it would care if Iran develops the bomb becaue we have enough nuclear bombs to cover every square mile of the middle east if an attack was to come from that region.
Also the poeple in Iran aren't fense posts as some of you naive garbzadeh's have been brainwashed to believe, so put a lid on it unless you are willing to pack up and go back there to fight for these rights that you keep quarterbacking after the ball game is over.
Iran must continue it's advancement in science regardless of who is in power. Muallah's, hanjees, metrosexuals, whomever. It must also hurry it's soltani packed behind and learn how to process fuel internally so it can also dispatch a big bilokh to bogus economic sanctions designed to keep a talented and loving nation from advancing ahead.

I heard Iran has about 1,500 of these missiles. If they are fired 100 at the time, even if a few are intercepted, most of them will land on the targets. So there really is no use for nuclear weapons. However, I wouldn't count out that Iran may already have nuclear weapons too.
The WMD which Iran does have
by GoosheNeshin (not verified) on Thu May 21, 2009 01:49 AM PDTThe WMD which Iran does have and which nobody seems willing to mention. Not only could Iran destroy Israel any time it chose not to care about the consequences, Iran is capable of destroying Israel in retaliation for an attack such as the planned one against Iranian nuclear facilities. Iran may even be capable of destroying the USA also. Unlike the USA and Israel, Iran is not into hyperbole, threats and aggression. They are quite capable of keeping quiet about a few nukes they may have to hand and an even more horrible weapon, Chemical and Biological weapons. Indeed if the idea was to "wipe Israel off the map" an idea which is not overly unwelcome in a large part of the world today, perhaps the majority, then what better way than to wait until Israel made an unforgiveable attack against a nuclear facility, equal to a nuclear attack, and then wiping them out? Either with a couple of Russian supplied nukes or a few hundred suicide "bombers" with small packages on them?

This idiot president of terrorist nation just blow away millions of taxpayers money at the eve of an election to show off mighty power to other terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah in hope to sell to them in near future.
Now the smart part: This just showed at eve of presidential election, this president antar that, IRI is not interested in peace at anytime, not now nor ever and they are showing that they have no interest in people's welfare, just their own survival.
Please people, do not justify these idiots moves, everything these Islamic traitors do is for themselves not people, don't believe me? just look who are the candidates: a murderer, executioner and idiot.

Like many other political systems, the Islamic Republic contains some constructive and some destructive forces within itself. During the past 30 years, the Iranian society has had some great achievements but it has also had some terrible setbacks. There has been a constant struggle between the constructive progressive forces of the I.R (and the Iranian society) and the destructive reactionary ones. The same pattern can be seen in the U.S between the ultra-conservatives like Bush's neocons and the more liberal forces like Obama.
Now, you can go on and rant all you want about the "evil" I.R deliberately wanting to destroy the Iranian people. And keep pointing at the poorest regions of Iran and making absurd generalizations about the whole country. But no one will take you seriously, until you start arguing in a more rational and mature way.

Answer: you are exactly right. The IRI is looking for a fight and thats exactly why you shouldnt give them what they want. They want Israel or the US to attack so that the public rallies behind them and they can with ease destroy internal dissent. They want Israel/US to attack so the desire of the people for democracy and human rights can be destroyed in the face of raining bombs and a nuclear fall out. They look forward to the day when all their speeches about how Israel is an evil state etc can be made real in the public's eyes and their role to the masses become legitimate. It is for these reasons that those who hate the IRI the most should not push for the military option.

Ask yourselves: why hasn't United States or Israel attacked yet?
by 1965 Tehrani (not verified) on Wed May 20, 2009 02:59 PM PDTThe U.S. and Israel attack nations that don't have any ability whatsoever to retaliate (e.g. Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Palestinians). The U.S. and Israel have militaries that are stronger than those of Iran, but Iran still has some ability to hit back. In other words, Iran does not fit the description of their favored targets, i.e. totally defenseless nations. Israel is trying to manipulate the situation in order to have the U.S. do its dirty work of attacking Iran.

Artificial Intelligence
by Shaghayegh (not verified) on Wed May 20, 2009 01:45 PM PDTYes this is a defensive move. For Iran that has been the target of the West, any military advances are for defensive purposes. To be clear here, if your country attacks Iran, then Iran will send these gifts back to you. Therefore: defensive.
Abarmard, you call this "defensive advances"?
by Artificial Intelligence on Wed May 20, 2009 01:38 PM PDTActually these are offensive advances since they don't stop incoming missiles. This only adds to the fear the European and Arabs have and strenghenes the hands/arguments of the Israelis. Ahmadinejad AGAIN just did a huge favor for the Israelis.
See article below re US funding of Arrow 3 announced today. If this was the message that Iran wanted to send to Obama then the US decision below was the answer back.
Raising the stakes and an Ahmadinejad victory only helps Israel, AIPAC and the hawkish elements in the Obama administration.
The United States will continue funding Israel's Arrow anti-ballistic
missile system, U.S. defense officials decided during their annual
strategic dialogue at the Pentagon this week.
Israeli
defense officials have recently been concerned that cuts in the U.S.
defense budget, along with Pentagon unwillingness to fund a project
that does not employ American workers, could harm the future of the
Arrow.
The Arrow III - which is expected to have the
capability of intercepting a ballistic missile at an early stage of its
flight path, allowing for the possibility of more attempts at
interception if the first one fails - is under development, but without
U.S. funding, it would have been difficult to continue developing the
missile system upgrade.
Top Israeli defense officials were
informed last month by their American counterparts that there were no
plans underway to cut funding for the Arrow system, but the
announcement on Wednesday has confirmed continuation of the project.
The announcement was made just hours Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared that Iran has successfully test-fired a new advanced missile with a range of about 1,200 miles, far enough to strike Israel and southeastern Europe as well as U.S. bases in the Gulf.
Israel's
successful test last month of the upgraded Arrow II anti-ballistic
missile system made defense officials hopeful that the United States
would continue funding the system, which is designed to defend against
possible ballistic missile attacks by Iran and Syria.
That
Arrow missile test intercepted a Blue Sparrow missile simulating the
flight path of an Iranian Shahab-3 ballistic missile over the
Mediterranean. It was the first test of an upgraded Arrow missile
combined with new radar - the X-band radar the United States installed
in the Negev nine months ago - and a new command and control system.

by Abarmard on Wed May 20, 2009 12:00 PM PDTI believe this is the right time for Mr. Ahmadinejad to show off Iranian defensive advances. I question if this was a right time for the country to broadcast this technology.

It's going to be an interesting month.
