It is Islam that is stopping us
by Anonymous9999 (not verified) on Wed May 06, 2009 08:39 PM PDTFact is that religions are invented by people and that is the reason why the rules and regulations in each religion exactly match the behavior and habits of the people who have intorduced the religion, for example, Islam is invented by Arabs(a copy of Judaism with some changes made by Mohammad) and its rules and teachings comes from the most wild and uncivilized part of the world, Arabian desert. It is a good religion for the Arabs because it allows them to attack and loot other people's land, kill and rape, which are the rules, habits and tradition amoung Arabs.
What about us Iranians? Our religion, Zoroastrianism, is based on good thoughts, good words and good deeds which shows where we Iranians came from! The most civilized people with the most progressive culture, of course before we were coerced into Islam!
Soccer on Saturdays

If interested I will send you directions
It is not Islam that is stopping us, it is many misguded moslems
by gol-dust on Wed May 06, 2009 06:03 PM PDTDon't blame everything on religion! Why are the Italians the champs despite the vatican being in their country?
And don't tell me Catholic are better than moslems, since I have 3 of them at home, and I should know better! We don't even know Islam or any other religion!
Please! Was Mohammad a bad football playere? Is that why?

Soccer Nation dude
by Majid on Wed May 06, 2009 03:56 PM PDTCan I have one anyway? I'll pay for it, how to get one?
Great
by masoudA on Wed May 06, 2009 01:11 PM PDTI have invested my heart in the next 3 games. I think this is a great opportunity to once again separate the nation from the mullahs. Those of you who know and follow football, understand what I am talking about. For the rest of you - Football is one of the few elements which consistantly keeps nationalism alive in Iran, and the mullahs are not very happy about it. Despite their efforts to kill football in Iran - they have not been able to do so - because even within their payrolled supporters, there are many who put football above Islam !!
Thanks for sharing
by Soccer Nation dude (not verified) on Wed May 06, 2009 10:56 AM PDTthanks for sharing. If Iran makes it to WC 2010, Soccer Nation will give away free tshirts to all Iranian soccer fans: //www.soccernation.com

by MiNeum71 on Wed May 06, 2009 06:13 AM PDTthis is so typically YOU, always being negative, this is bad, that is bad ... never thought about growing up?
Dear anonymous fish, Victory is the best football movie ever ;)
Step by step...
by ThePope on Tue May 05, 2009 09:45 PM PDTPyongyang, 6th of June;
ekhtelaaf 2Goal+, Iran will win ( mark my words ;-)
...they'll make it.
ps Team-melli's manager/supervisor (sarparast) is Mehdi Taaj who has always been pushing for Ghotbi & TOTALLY supports him,,, which is very positive...

by anonymous fish on Tue May 05, 2009 04:46 PM PDTyou're right of course... but doesn't it give you just a lovely warm feeling seeing your young hamvatans representing your vatan in football? forgetting politics for a second (as if). sports is the only equal playing field. one where it doesn't (or rather, shouldn't) matter who you are or where you came from? it's the great equalifier. i don't know... it just makes me feel good.
the movie was dreadful in every other way, but it still makes me feel good.
What is the Big Deal???

Sounds like We need miracle in other areas of lives in iran, rather than this one. WHo cares if we go to S. africa or not?
Our beloved team melli
by Annonymous (not verified) on Tue May 05, 2009 01:56 PM PDTNothing would be more pleasing than seeing our beloved team melli make it to S. Africa in 2010 but many obstacles remian. Not being technically gifted when it comes to football one cannot and should not claim to know how to overcome these barriers and make constant recommendations. Iranians, in particular, are VERY good at opining! Watching Iran's matches with U.A.E., S. Korea and finally Saudi Arabia even a novice eye can detect a lack of team chemistry, cohesiveness, and most disturbing of all....a killer instinct. In matches with S. Korea and Saudi Arabia team melli was ahead but failed to preserve. At the professional level having a killer instint is top priority as evidenced by watching top European club matches. I sincerely hope Mr. Qotbi is willing and able to do what is needed to carry Iran trough. It is going to be a daunting task nevertheless. Good luck.
Not to be a back seat driver....
by GuessWho... (not verified) on Tue May 05, 2009 01:42 PM PDTMiracle of course, but even more I hope this new coach already has them all under just the right dose of strength training and strength development, high altitude cardio conditioning, not to mention a complimentary mental preperation program.
If our boys can physically set the pace for 90 minutes (instead of endure it) and are programmed to dominate and not get physically dominated by the opponent, they can take care of the rest with their technique. Another Ali Karimi in the midfield or upfront won't hurt either.
Iran CAN
by Abarmard on Tue May 05, 2009 01:11 PM PDTThe Team e Melli can absolutely overcome their challenge. I have no doubt that they are capable. Let's all hope
Only a miracle can help us
by Ali P. on Tue May 05, 2009 01:08 PM PDT...and Lord knows, there would be 70 million people praying for one!
How?
by Anonymous-iran (not verified) on Tue May 05, 2009 01:06 PM PDTIslam is the only thing that can STOP us from achieving all our goals, in sport, science, Art....., then, what should we do first?
