Iran sanctions "bad idea"

U.S. Congressman Keith Ellison

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) cited Iran opposition leaders Mir Hossein Mousavi's stance against sanctions on the Tehran government. Ellison, a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, tweeted from a Foreign Affairs Committee markup on proposed sanctions against Iran: "Foreign Affairs mark up on increasing sanctions on Iran. I oppose. Why do Shirin Ebadi, Mousavi & democracy advocates say bad idea?" Two weeks ago, Congress sent a bill to President Barack Obama that included measures barring companies that sell fuel to Iran from winning U.S. contracts. The Foreign Affairs panel is now working on a bill that targets firms that invest in Iran's domestic production of oil.

You're the one..

by MOOSIRvaPIAZ on

who wants to selfishly kill people by sanctioning them. Of course being an exile you desraprately hold on to the fatasy of going back to Iran. With that attitude you're never going to set foot on Iran ever again. Iran is not a place for traitors. We'll ship Khamenei and his thugs to your home when we're done getting rid of them. You deserve eachother.

The way you sound I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't even know what a book looks like. For once, try to crack something other than a Quran and then maybe you won't express yourself like a first-grader, albeit a first grader who wants to destroy things, including free speech.

Just a thought.

Go back to the rock you lived under for all these years. so out of touch and delusional. You live in the west with access to limitless knowledge. How about grabbing a book for change?

I'm sure you and your ilk would love to torture my family to death -- after all, that's what you hezbos do best -- torture and murder.

How does it feel to know that you and your bunch are ruining Iran and are accessories to rape, murder, torture and thievery on a scale not matched since the first Arab invasion of Iran, the Islamic revolution being the second?

The fires of HELL await you and your masters.

Nousha Arzu, great idea on sanctions

by MOOSIRvaPIAZ on

Its only fair you go back to Iran to share the poison you prescribe with the people. if you cant, just let us starve you and your family to death for the same effect.

What a BIASED JOKER!!!

by Nousha Arzu on

This is a farce, and Ellison very much reminds me of that baffoon US ambassador during the Carter administration who thought that mullah Khomeini was Iran's "Ghandi." That moron's name was Andrew Young, Carter's ambassador to the UN. This moron here speaks the same craven language, on behalf of the same sort of pro-Islamist president, for the benefit of the same tretcherous vermin in Tehran.

A gasonline sanction (or blockade of 40% of Iran's internal gasoline usage which is imported) would cripple the IRI, for it would in fact, bring about extreme hardship upon the people of Iran, who in turn, would make the regime pay heavily in return, perhaps with its existence, and anyone with a shred of objectivity and brain-matter and common sense would agree.

Which is better: a short term hardship for the people of Iran or another 30 years of institutionalized rape, murder, torture and thievery on a scale unparalleled since the first Arab invasion of Iran, the Islamic revolution being the second?

Q

Thank you Ellison!

although these sanctions are quite meaningless, I applaud the integrity of Rep. Ellision in pointing out their hypocrisy.

We all know who is pushing for them and for what reason.

dear progammer craig,

It is not the fault of Americans that their congress is hijacked by opportunitsts in bed with lobbysts. And I have never said that Americans are inferior human beings. My wife is an American infact. :)

I blame the lobbysts who have the chuztpah to write legislations for the congressmen. Just go to one of those PAC watch and see for yourself how much money is being funneled through by hawkish interest groups.

War is inevitable even when the democrats control congress? If you are right, I wonder who you blame that on? Left, right and center in the US can't abide IRI... it must be the fault of Americans! We are just inferior human beings, unable to coexist peacefull with other nations, right?

MOOSIRvaPIAZ

The congress... and Fred, care less about what people think

by MOOSIRvaPIAZ on

infact, they know the santions will not work. They want the inevitable which is war.
