Ey dad ey havar, don't say anything bad about this
by Louie Louie on Thu Oct 08, 2009 10:19 PM PDTthen you're demonizing the whole country.
So what is the purpose of posting this video? To say bah bah barikallah mashallah, he can take the aalkehal so well?
So are you a saint? Tell us. Just tell us and be done with it already.
Bunch of pretentious .... if you ask me.
Don't gas the kid; Zahr-e maar for the reporter and the parents!
by Milan on Thu Oct 08, 2009 08:27 PM PDTEven in tribes farthest removed from civilization children are not knowingly subjected to such blatant abuse.
WTF
by rasoulk on Thu Oct 08, 2009 07:30 PM PDTI freaking can not believe this crap....you tell me people in iran watch this on tv and are OK with this kid drinking poison?????
Stupid parents! Horrible TV reporter!
by farrad02 on Thu Oct 08, 2009 06:20 PM PDTHow is he surviving? That is the mystery! That is what the report should have concentrated on!
In any other mature and experienced television broadcasting operation this report would have included a visit with a doctor or other specialist to get their opinion on why is it that the little bastard hasn't died YET? That is the real news piece to report on!
And also...don't blame everything on the regime! It is Iran after all!!
The quality of television reporting and the parenthood skills have to match the little village boy's diet!
And be glad the boy is not using the gasoline to set things on fire! He is just harming himself. And I suspect he won't make it past 25!!!
Remember the girl in the clip!
by shahabshahab on Thu Oct 08, 2009 05:05 PM PDTThe girl , the interviewer, is NOT a journalist. She is an idoiot like so many others in IRI. She talks about this as if it is funny and intersting. It is not: She, and other idiots in that village are committing a crime, where this little inncocent boy is going to suffer from liver cancer as well as other diseases soon, and will die. A child may do something stupid, but it is the adults' duty to stop him from doing this. Instead, they are encouraging him.
There is no end to the supidity of the Seda va Sima, the others in the Government, and the idiot parents. This has litlle to do with education. I have seen many uneducated people who protect their child with their dear lives. These are simply beasts, wild animals. . ..
.....
by yolanda on Thu Oct 08, 2009 04:52 PM PDTIt is shocking that nobody stopped this kid from drinking gasoline. The adults and TV reporters acted like they were watching some type of stunt.
Gasoline addtives are carcinogenic. Here is from the Wikipedia:
Many of the non-aliphatic hydrocarbons naturally present in gasoline (especially aromatic ones like benzene), as well as many anti-knocking additives, are carcinogenic. Because of this, any large-scale or ongoing leaks of gasoline pose a threat to the public's health and the environment, should the gasoline reach a public supply of drinking water.
//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline
it is sad!!! I have to say that I blame the adults, not the kid, 'cause he does not know what he is doing!
woow
by capt_ayhab on Thu Oct 08, 2009 01:53 PM PDTWhat does a pair of neglecting and moronic parents have to do with ancient civilization and entire society as a whole?
Parents much like these, or even worse are every where, and no one sees any one you bash the entire society or civilization for stupid deeds of some illiterate parents.
Chill people, there are enough demonetization going around about Iranians[irregardless of IR] without your help.

Calm down
by Abarmard on Thu Oct 08, 2009 01:42 PM PDTDon't bash everyone and everything for a report, stranger and much worse happens around the globe and it's not the "sign" of civilization or lack of it. It's just is. People, tribes, different social classes behave differently and hold different values. Don't be harsh and judgmental just because you had a chance to live in another culture.
Don't doubt for a second that these people hold many things value, and are more humane in their daily lives that you might ever witness in your neighborhoods!
The kid is fine and no harm done.
This is so disgusting! and
by Irooni on Thu Oct 08, 2009 01:14 PM PDTThis is so disgusting! and the journalist is filming it and proudly showing it on TV! The IRIB should also be sued for this!
Child Abuse - No less than that! Offensive. Violent.
by MamaAtlanta on Thu Oct 08, 2009 01:09 PM PDTThis video made me sick to my stomach. Literally. The child hiding behind the couch . . . The parent who allows this. What for? For publicity so that they can make some money?
Reminds me of the days when parents would disfigure their children so that they could beg on the streets of Tehran.
Is this an actual Iranian "film crew" reporting on a child drinking gasoline? Shouldn't the reporting be to a child protective agency?
For all of you who are so proud of your ancient and civilized culture .... try to integrate this picture into your sense of Iranianness as well. This is who we are. A nation who cares little for life. Be it the life of a child in a poor home (how could this be televised? who can watch it in awe?). Or be it the life of the young and old protesting for more freedoms.
This is who we are. We are this, just as much as the PhD, and MD, JDs that we all boast about. We are this just as much as the big homes in LA, and the Mercedes. We are this.
Until human rights is fully recognized in Iran, we are not civilized. Cyrus the Great was many moons ago . . .
