Yara

A rising star

Fared Shafinury is a refreshing new voice in Iranian music. His music is sweet and soft and his fusion tricks really work. I have visited his MySpace page and I really enjoyed the song he did with Mohsen Namjoo. I wish him the best of luck and look forward to seeing him perform in San Francisco.

CIA TV ....

I wonder who is the audience of these bunch in Iran? Most Iranians know that these are the same bunch (previous generation) that stopped Iran's entry into the new era of progress (in 1953 -- coup). Dr. Mosadegh was removed and the rest is history. Now in order to justify themselves, they get a hold of some 'simpletons" for interview to show that they are with us Iranians. Shame on the CIA and their Iranian employees.

American Dream

A Good Band with a Good Mission

It is great to hear that the singer has visited Iran.  He is a great Persian Classical singer.

I don't understand why the song was called Ariana.  Ariana is the name of an airline in Afghanistan.  A lot of Afghan grocery stores in America are named Ariana.

After the Iranian Revolution many people immigrated from Afghanistan to Iran.  Many Iranian men living in the Iranian city of Mashad married Afghani women.  Those Afghani women were then granted Iranian citizenship because their husband's were Iranian.  A lot of those Afghan women named their children Ariana.

The singer may have visited Mashad and come into contact with the name Ariana and believed it was an Iranian name.  In reality, the name Ariana is 100% Afghani.

I would advise all Iranian Americans, Iranians and Americans whose parent immigrated from Iran to visit Iran.  Visiting Iran is a great experience.

All the best.
