Kurdish line dance

A wedding in Orumiyeh, northwestern Iran

I was mesmerized! Clip description says: "Kurdish wedding from Iran Oroumieh Nisani tribes, Kanasi Village." The wedding is obviously in a public hall and as such the men's and women's sections are separated. This is why only men dance here.

I was half joking :)

by Princess on

I AM proud of who I am, and I am proud of where I come from, with all its strengths as weaknesses.

By the way, I have a Kurdish aunt and am rather familiar with the Kurds and their culture.  ... being warm people sounds just about right. :)

kakafshin

oh please don't say that

by kakafshin on

oh please don't say that princess!!! you should be proud of who you are instead! You can learn Kurdish dances, just get some kurdish friends :D we are very warm people especially towards other iroonies ;)

On the contrary, khanom. I

by kakafshin on

On the contrary, khanom. I am from urmiye myself, and it's just a weird habit of often being very serious lol... but in europe everybody is smiling and laughing. I love my kurdish dances, it just makes you happy and unified with the ones you dance with, it's great.

Ashkan

This is wonderful!

The guy in light-blue jacket who seems to lead the dance adds so much personality to the performance.

Thanks for sharing it!

To Emil: You seem like a grown up

by shahabshahab on

You seem like a grown up, but apprently have the mind of a retarded 2-year old monkey. The clip already said that men and women are separated because of your Islamic government. Also, you must be a homophobic.

Saman

They can dance ...

by Saman on

This is in Iran fo-sho. Kurdish women can dance and they dance beautifly. I Love Kurdish culture. It is extremely rich and dancing for both men and women is a huge part of their celebrations.

See what I mean?

by sima on

Mr. Emil thinks because these guys are dancing they're gay!

Princess

When I see dance like this

by Princess on

I wish I wasn't Tehrooni. Why don't we have dance like this? I also like the Armenian line dancing.

It is such a beautiful way warm up a party, no need for booz or drugs.

Emil

Gay club...?

by Emil on

Is this a Gay club...?

sima

Only wimps don't dance!

by sima on

Let this be an example to all those guys who think they are too macho to dance.
