You noted ever so lovingly[Some Iranians are used to hating others without even knowing
them.... mordeshooresh ro bebarand... een deegeh che kharee bood.... how dare we comment on others when they are all human beings just like us . What authority do we have ????We need to learn to be more kind and tolerant. Just be happy for her and be happy that we have a voice in Hollywood that could channel some positive thoughts about Iranians.
]

1: She is a public figure, hence she will get the criticism whether YOU like it or not.

2: Hate is an extremely harsh word, no one , I mean no one except YOU used that word to voice their opinion of her person.

3. We dare to comment on people like her, when she chooses to associate herself with Neo-cons and entities such as Faux News. It just comes with the territories that she dwells in.

4. I commented on her talent very positively, rightfully too. But as a person, as a political polarity she has chosen to be in I do not like her as that person.

5. Thou shalt not attempt to censor people ;-o) This has nothing to do with tolerance, nor with kindness. I am entitled to my opinion about her as you are. So what is that puts me in front of barge of your criticism without knowing me?

Isn't it what you complain about to begin with? There is word for this type of attitude, and it begins with hypocrisy.

Cheers dear lady.

Shohreh Aghdashloo

by Benyamin on

I am so happy for you and whomever that shares the same feelings as pride, joy and sense of accomplishments. Ms. Shohreh Aghdashloo like many Iranians (male or female) has conquered a peak but this time as an actor. Iranian women or men could do great things and Shohreh has shown that she could  walk the walk on such a fine line with such class and I really liked her speech and didn`t get embarressed(it happens that sometimes some of us don`t speak the best english) but she nailed it.

Great job

Going by your name you are male. So I'm curious, how the heck did you come to the conclusion that she is a 'source of pride to us Iranian WOMEN'? Believe it or not some of us can, and do, accomplish a hell of a lot more in life than acting! This is like saying Nasser Malek Motiei & Fardin made all you Iranian men proud! WTF!!?? And please don't say they did and shatter what illusions I have left.

Right But...

I am totally with you that people, iranians in this case, go overboard and criticize one's character without knowing them too well, But in terms of her being our voice in hollywood... I am sorry, what planet did you say you lived on again? Was it earth?...

Both her and Golshifte farahani and all actors and actresses in hollywood have one concern and one concern only: their fame and their bottomline.

I think we are deluding ourselves if we think they really care to be our voices in there.

Peace.

It amazes me how some folks say " I do not like her as a person". You can say I dont' like her performance or comments about such and such or the way she dresses or whatever but you can only claim that you do not like someone as a person when you truely know that person , you have associated with her on a personal level for a while. Some Iranians are used to hating others without even knowing them.... mordeshooresh ro bebarand... een deegeh che kharee bood.... how dare we comment on others when they are all human beings just like us . What authority do we have ????We need to learn to be more kind and tolerant. Just be happy for her and be happy that we have a voice in Hollywood that could channel some positive thoughts about Iranians.

HollyUSA

Proud??? Seriously?

by HollyUSA on

Hmmm pride isn't exactly what comes to mind when I see her perform, or win, or play into the hands of HW, how they want it, when they want it, or wheeze through her speech for that matter.

I felt MASSIVE pride when the Iranian youth had the entire world gasping for breath when they took to the streets armed with nothing but their beliefs and their intelligence..and their cell phone cameras. She gets the stage at the Emmy's with all the lights and cameras in HW and neglects to make use of a golden opportunity to support them? Looking at all of you busting at the seams with pride and gettin' your feelers in a twist, I'm thinking I must be crazy! I thought she shamed us ... and not just with her poor acting skills.

Proud_to_be_anonymous has all that is worth a mention covered. Thanks for the chuckle.

At least, she was wearing a green bracelett. She is proabably still embarassed about her initial comment about the green movement.

Right!

And Capt.:

I do not like her as a person.

That does not make her any less of a capable artist that she is, it is just me!

Me to! I agree with you.

Shohreh Aghdashloo says her ancestors Vaziri-Tabar were members of the royal court, darbar

Now she has played the role of Saddam's wife

What will happen next will Farahnaz Pahlavi pose for Hustler

FYI/No celebration at 13th Iran Cinema Celebration (Tehran News)

by Darius Kadivar on

In the meantime in Iran ...

TEHRAN -- The 13th Iran Cinema Celebration was held Friday night at Tehran's Esteqlal Hotel, with no competition and no winner announcement. The festival is held annually to celebrate Iran's National Cinema Day (Sep. 12) and is sponsored by the House of Cinema. However, this year's celebration was held on September 18 due to its coincidence with the holy month of Ramadan.
