Just Maybe...
by revor on Wed Aug 18, 2010 09:32 AM PDTThis is an old Woman, she has been created by what she has endured. I suspect she is wise in many ways. Rather than degrade and poke fun at this Woman perhaps those who want change should try to do a bit of their own "brainwashing" and go to these people with information, the truth as they see it.
Yes it's traitorous in the eyes of the IRI but leaflets distributed secretivly.. Each Uprising in history has been driven by the words of those who see the unjust. Later it was the printing press that the tyrants feared, they have destroyed millions but the word still gets out. The free press in Iran seems to have been stomped out, there has to be some presses needing something to do.
Hmmmmm

by AMIR1973 on Wed Aug 18, 2010 04:40 AM PDTThe Leader of IRI is not and can NOT be popularly elected; rather, he was chosen by 86 male Shia "experts" 21 years ago. Only Khomeinist "candidates" can stand in the IRI's sham "elections". North Korea and Cuba claim very high turnout in their "elections" too (remember: the USSR also had "elections"). That's your democracy, Rapist Regime style. Cheers :-)

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Wed Aug 18, 2010 04:35 AM PDTPoint taken. Alright I promise to go easier on her next time. The one thing the interview is missing is more dept. I like to know exactly what she likes about AN except "not being a theif". She does have a point that Rafsanjani is a theif but then so are the rest of IRI. In fact so are most world leaders so that is sort of a given. How about other issues where they differ.
I suggest next interview include questions on Sharia. Also questions on what a person thinks of America; Israel; and so on.

by Sargord Pirouz on Wed Aug 18, 2010 02:12 AM PDTWell, there's just one of the roughly 25 million Iranians that voted Ahmadinejad in the 2009 election.
And to think, there are those outside Iran that wish to take away the voting majority of persons like this little old lady. And they have the gall to call this effort a "democracy movement"!

by Doctor X on Wed Aug 18, 2010 12:01 AM PDTI completely get your point and also admire your good intentions and hope that one day soon you will get the chance to do what is in your heart.
Having said this though, i could not help noticing a few things that perhaps you missed in your post. You are walking a very fine line there when you say "when an iranian" approves of him... then...such and such, That can not possibly be right. Do you think that there is at least slight possibility that there are those who are in the middle? May agree with him in certain decisions he has made but would defenitely oppose others?
the other thing is that being brainwashed by definition does not leave a choice for anyone who is going through it, specially for someone like her who has spent all of her years in a super conservative and religious environment. So therefore, having been exposed to such an environment, she never had the chance to get and education (since she was probably given away, just like many others in her situation) and so she never had the opportunity to develop and open mind. This is one case where close-mindedness was not deliberate, which makes the concept of her knowing anything about the green movement, rather non-existent. And to make matters even worse, on top of it all she does receive some benefits, but that just comes with the territory,
I know your stance against the collective bigotry but she ain't a part of this Iranian version of Tea movement and i would tend to put her more in the deep south, more redneck than a tea partier can ever be (while in a restaurant they will tell their servers, why don't ya leave my glass alone sweetcheeks i can get my own tea) category.
What language does she speak?
by Onlyiran on Tue Aug 17, 2010 09:52 PM PDTI couldn't understand a word that she said aside from "Ahmadinejad". Seriously, was it some sort of a village or provincial dialect that I have never heard before? Does anyone know?
Anyway, as to her political views, I have a lot to say, but observing the rules of our culture, I will respect her because of her age and will not say anything--aside from wishing her good health.
It is funny that some so
by Dariush A on Wed Aug 18, 2010 09:13 AM PDTIt is funny that some so called educated are comparing themselves to a 90 years old villager who has been neglected for decades by the same so called educated. They make fun of her for defending Ahmadinejad, because Ahmadinejad unlike previous presidents and kings has help them instead of robbing them. These so called educated go to Iran and feel they are above the rest, While in reality they have kissed and begged the foreigners and done what this old villager would never do. Just as the city boys go to villages and feel they are in a different class.
It is time for these sossols to understand that the oil revenues don't just belong to them and these villagers are Iranians too. Ahmadinejad should spend most of the oil revenues to improve the living standards in the villages. Build more Hospitals, schools, libraries and etc. This will not only benefit the villagers, it will also benefit the cities from overcrowding, pollution, crimes and much more in addition to improving education and agriculture that would benefit the whole nation.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Tue Aug 17, 2010 06:44 PM PDTI will try to get my point of view accross.
To begin with I think Iranians are capable of great achievements. They should have opportunities regardless of being poor or rich. I am not excluding her from anything. I am expressing my opposition to what she stands for. If I ever get the opportunity to help Iran I would not exclude her from the gains.
Now to the other side. With being included there is also responsibility. A major responsibility is to show compassion towards other people. You don't need to be rich or educated to have compassion. When an Iranian approves of AN they approve of stoning and hanging of their fellow. They are not showing compassion. Approving of AN takes more than being uneducated. It is at best being indifferent to plight of his victims.
Then we ask: why is she so supportive of this guy? There may be two reasons: either brainwashed or getting some personal benefit.
Is she brainwashed? Probably. I would think she was and possibly willingly. Does she have to be brainwashed? No. Has she even tried to see the Green or anyone else's point of view? I don't know for sure but I highly doubt it. This is not for a lack of opportunity. It would have to be for not having an open mind. Too bad that we have way too many closed minded people.
In any event I am not picking on her per say. Honestly from the short interview I do not have sufficient information about her detailed point of view. Instead I am picking on a whole group of people who worship ignorance. We have a similar group in the USA they are the "Tea Party". This is just the Iranian version of the same people

by Doctor X on Tue Aug 17, 2010 04:09 PM PDTThat is nonsense. Iranians "like her" are not really responsible for anything and they can not be the reason we are backwards... what does that even mean? that we are a bunch of a...holes with antiquated ideas because we have others living among us?
This is an obvious case of being Brainwashed, And you know damn well how many people like her out there have been brainwashed against their wills. I am not saying it is a good thing and nor i am defending this, But come on, this is out of your sense of Frustration with the current situation so you pick on the one who really and truly are not to blame. You have got to get to the source and Do some nipping in the butt.
Boy! what a big contrast from your other postings and blogs. So let me ask you this. When you write and advocate helping poor people in iran and installing ammenities whereby we can create jobs for them, I guess people like her!! are excluded and should only .... rather than getting the benefit? This woman is poor even though her ideas are as backwards.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Tue Aug 17, 2010 03:09 PM PDTDon't fool yourself. Her kind is why Iran is half as productive as Turkey. With people like her what is there to defend? Why would anyone possibly want a nation made of of her?
You are wrong. Majority of Iranians are not like this. You just wish they were so you have company. Why don't you move back to your golorious IRI. You seem to be fond of ignorance.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Tue Aug 17, 2010 03:05 PM PDTIt is because of people like her that Iranian girls are being raped. That Iranian women are being stoned to death. And she approves of it. That IS demented in my book.
I am very angry at people exactly like her. The gang which are the backbone of AN and his support. She must take responsibility for what her actions bring. I rather be a snob who lets people live. Than a non snob who approves of hanging kids and stoning women. Sorry if it rubs you the wrong way. But people like her need to be treated as they do with others.
I wonder what she thinks of hanging a 16 year old gay kid. I would gather she approves. She deserve a lot worse than I am dishing out.
Iranians like her are the reason we are this backwards.

She is not Demented. She may be severly under (un) educated, but demeted? come on. WHy insult her? that is being insulting you know? It would be as if she called you a snob, spoiled rich brat who lives in Amereeka! think about eet.
She might not be solely responsible for the fact that she is uneducated and she may have not done it intentionally. She is an iranian nevertheless and has as much right to speak her mind as you and I do.

They have donated in the time of hardships, and are the most productive people not like us paper pushers. At any critical instances, these are the people the rulers have ran to for getting help.
