(UPI) -- Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton said Tuesday he sees no sign President Obama will OK an Israeli strike on Iran's Bushehr reactor. Bolton, in an interview with Israel Radio, also said Israel has three days to hit the plant. Russia plans to begin the fueling process for the reactor Saturday. "It has always been optimal that military force is used before the fuel rods are inserted," Bolton said. "That's what Israel did in Osirak in 1991, and when they attacked the North Korean reactor built in Syria (in 2007)." >>>

You think an Iranian having to deal with the lousy economic, social, and political conditions of life under the IRI gives two sh*ts about Palestine or about Hamas and Islamic Jihad? If anything, they say why are you sending our money there?
Again for the sake of argument, do you think an A bomb would make the IRI more or less adventurist in their policies (e.g. all their crap about "exporting the revolution" beyond the IRI)?
Amir
by JavoonDeerooz on Wed Aug 18, 2010 10:32 PM PDTEven under your highly hypothetical scenario, they have a better chance of survival by not initiating a nuclear attack. These are the same people who bought arms from Israel to fight Iraq to survive. They know history and know what happened o Nazi war criminals after the war. None of them wants his picture on a playing card the same way Saddam and Tariq Aziz and Chemical Ali ended up. Even in the most desperate situation, their chance of survival is greater by simply disappearing rather than initiate an attack which would provoke a nuclear holocaust. All this anti israeli bullshit is hollow words for domestic consumption.

by AMIR1973 on Wed Aug 18, 2010 10:18 PM PDTLet's just say for the sake of argument that the IRI's leaders are in a position where the regime may be collapsing and they may be at risk of losing their "numerous palaces, expensive cars, foreign bank accounts and profit centers" (and perhaps even their freedom or lives). What would stop them from using the A bomb in that situation, since then they have little to lose? Again, just for the sake of argument. Regards.
Iran would never strike first with the A bomb
by JavoonDeerooz on Wed Aug 18, 2010 09:47 PM PDTfor the same reason that Saddam , even if he had capability to develop atomic bomb, would never strike first. The top leaders of Iran are not of the martyr type. Each one has numerous palaces, expensive cars, foreign bank accounts and profit centers within Iran. Do you really think they amassed all this wealth and good life to see it evaporate in front of their eyes for the dubious honor of having nuked couple of hundred thousand jews and couple of million Iranians? I had exactly same argument about Saddam. A man who builds fifteen palaces and grooms his sons to replace him is not a martyr and would not initiate a war that ends in his demise. If only stupid Bush administration understood this , we would be ahead by 200,000 Iraqi and American lives and Gizzilion dollars. But Bolton comes from the same moronic thought process , so no wonder he is so far off.

Recently, there has been a barrage of articles from familiar sources about Israel attacking Iran. This has been going on for quite a while. For more than a decade, Israel was about to attack Iran within a year and the IR regime was about to have a bomb within two years
In today’s NY Times editorial, Robert Wright provides a counter argument

not being patriots,
being fake intellectuals,

From bottom of our hearts, we need to love; Iran first, Iranians the second, and IF there is more left; The world. And the rest comes naturally.
anahid, even if all this
by hamsade ghadimi on Wed Aug 18, 2010 08:33 AM PDTanahid, even if all this fear-mongering talk is nonsense, it has an intrinsic value to those who spread it. as you can see in the interview, the moderator keeps linking the issue of israel/iran/nukes to obama (his main target). any bad story that you see on cnn website can somehow be linked to obama and that's where the value lies. of course, others may spread unsubstanitated fear for their own purposes. iri does it. israel does it. england does it....
dear hamsade, it is more than 5 years that someone tells me...
by Anahid Hojjati on Wed Aug 18, 2010 08:20 AM PDTDear Hamsade, yesterday a friend of mine (not Iranian) asked me when my parents are coming back from Iran and he then proceeded to tell me about what Bolton has said. But I have stopped worrying about this friend and his latest statements of alarm. Reason is that in the five and half yaers that I have known him, countless number of times, he has told me that any day USA or Israel will attack Iran and if my parents are in Iran, they should immediately leave Iran. Go figure.
2 days left to attack
by hamsade ghadimi on Wed Aug 18, 2010 08:14 AM PDT2 days left to attack iran. then in about 8 days or so attack n. korea and definitely by mid-sept. attack pakistan (perhaps a simultaneous attack on yemen too). eeevel is on its way out folks, according to the swedish chef. //redtopnews.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/swedish-chef.jpg

by Midwesty on Wed Aug 18, 2010 07:05 AM PDTRussian goods in general are clunky but they work! Remember, their ancient space rockets are still running and have saved NASA in couple of occasions and probably will in the future while the Shuttles are getting retired and the next gen space vehicles will be built. Aside from that, Iran is also developing the expertise. Nuclear energy is no stranger to Iranians.

by Kamran Ramyar on Wed Aug 18, 2010 06:11 AM PDTJohn Bolton is nothing but a mouth-piece for the Zionists & neo-cons who would like nothing more than starting another war in ME. Whether one is an advocate of theocracy or regime change in Iran one thing is for certain... In the event of war all Iranians must report for duty to fight off the aggressors!
What a nuisance the necons are becoming to this country...
by Midwesty on Wed Aug 18, 2010 06:09 AM PDTWhile N Korea and Pakistan are posing a much higher risk, US is still involved in Iraq and Afghanistan, and economy is no where close to what the rest of the world is now, just because they are pissed at Iran they are willing to go down and taking the whole country with them.
So Iran wasn't enough, now they are taking on Russia.
