I my days, it was 24 months, 18 the basic and another six months "ehtiati"

Duration of military service is dependent on some conditions and circumstances. There is a 20 month military service baseline, which starts at age eighteen, 18 months for destitute areas and 16 months for boundary areas. (There is also two months set aside for military education.)
