A different Christmas

by Farah Rusta on

Now that Christmas 2010 is behind us and many of us joined the festivities rest assured that Christmas is an Iranian invention, perhaps it is not bad to remember what "Christmas" is going to mean for some of our less fortunate compatriots. I am talking about some 50 Iranian and Iraqi asylum seekers who, only ten days before Christmas day, lost their lives when their boat crashed against the rocks next to Australia's Christmas Island.

I wonder what Christmas will continue to mean to those Iranians who lost their dear ones in this tragedy.

For your discriminatory view against Christian Iranians. I'm sure they have enough reasons now to look forward to IC's new management as the best Christmas gift they will have ever received.

Never increase, beyond what is necessary, the number of entities required to explain anything.

Satire on a common diaspora dilemma!

by Ari Siletz on

Obviously Christmas has bitter sweet meaning for Iranians in the diaspora, otherwise this video wouldn't be so funny. Substitute the Korean Seollal and the joke gets a 'huh?'

If the artists' intention was to make Christmas less relevant to us, the art itself caused their effort to backfire.

We should care! This day was Persians gift to the world (kinda!)

by Jonny Dollar on

XMas gave us the opportunity to discover our own past! As usual, I was in church with my family on the XMas day. After the mass, I took my kids to the alter where they had set up the effigies of mary and the child and the three  kings. I told them: "Look, the three kings were Persians. They are your ancestors from my side.

You see, even though I am not a Christian (my family is), I have learned enough throughout the years that we Iranians are much more associated to Christmas and Christianity than we ever would know if we wouldn't open our eyes. Islam totally cut us off from our own history. You don't have to be a christian to celebrate christmas! Christmas is about love and peace and that's what I celebrate. I don't care about the jesus part as a person. Stick to the message.

 "God is love!"

I just emailed it to every friend

JJ jon, you are right!

But we repeat it every year and again we celebrate it the next year.

Just can't get enough of it!

I love Christmas holidays!

And also the Thanks Giving........

The good behavior of the people, warms our heart and make us thankful.....  And the bad ones, just make us to recognize and appreciate the good ones!
