CTV: Fatima Eftekhari is pleading with Canadian officials to intervene as her husband, accused of a crime she says he didn't commit, sits on death row in Iran. Iran accused Saeed Malekpour of running a website with adult content, leading to a conviction and death sentence delivered by a judge Saturday. Eftekhari fears her husband will be executed if the Canadian government doesn't step in. It has been unwilling to get involved because her Iranian-born husband, who was living with her north of Toronto, isn't a Canadian citizen, Eftekhari said. Malekpour, a permanent Canadian resident since 2004, has been in jail for two years, telling his family he has endured torture and been locked in a tiny cell. Speaking softly and appearing emotionally-drained, Eftekhari told Sandie Rinaldo on CTV News Channel Monday her husband is innocent. "He doesn't deserve to be detained in prison even for a single day," Eftekhari said >>>

Tehran's Comments
by Raoul1955 on Wed Dec 08, 2010 05:53 PM PSTMake perfect sense.
The guy is a fool and deserves what he gets, and now some idiots want the Canadian government to do what?
To those who feel sorry for the likes of this idiot: Get a life and focus on deserving people and not someone as idiotic as this guy.
Cheers now.
Q: Why did you go to Iran??
by Tehran on Wed Dec 08, 2010 08:24 AM PSTThis topic was written about in one of the famous Toronto papers and I read through comments some Canadians had left.
A lot of them had problem with Mr. Malekpour's going back to Iran after securing Landed status in Canada. I have to agree with them, Iranians come out of Iran (some escape) go to another country and (geryeh O zari) that we were not safe in Iran, we were hurt, they are after us, we need a safe place to start all over again and raise our children free,,, blah blah blah,,, & so they get refugee/landed status..."as soon as "Aba az asiyab oftad" they go back to Iran and (why??I am not sure) so they get arrested...
Suddenly it is a cry for help and so on...
I am not here to judge anyone but he got his Canadian residency in 2004 and he has been arrested for 2 years now so he left Canada about 3 years ago in 2007. This means he only stayed in Canada form 2004 to 2007 then he went back to Iran. Why would you leave a free country with fresh air and a government that doesn’t kill you for writing a computer program. If he was a programmer he could make a decent living in Canada. If you want to live your life on the edge, sometimes you will slip, be aware.
Everyone knows Iran is a Law-less country, you can be walking in the street the next day you end up in Bhesht-Zahra.
I know many people who have left Iran (actually escaped) a good 25 years ago and although in their heart they want to go back to Iran to see their fathers, mothers, close and far relatives, native city, Caspian Sea, beautiful Tehran, do a business deal and make a quick cash.....BUT they simply don't go back because of fear of the government... Hendoneh nakhor age khordi payeh larzesh ham bashin... There is nothing Canadian gov can do for this fellow..It is a sad sad story &.I prayer for him.
I just read some of the comments on the CTV site(above story link)
same thing, people are saying "Don't go back to your homeland after you are safe and sound in a free country"..here is a sample comment from a Canadian person:
"
Wanting to visit your ailing father is entirely understandable, but, overruling your common sense and allowing your emotions to put you on a plane back to Iran takes considerable foolishness. Whenever you leave Iran and take up residency in a Western democracy (presumably with the goal of attaining citizenship), you're viewed by the Iranian government as having given it the finger. Returning means a roll of the dice. (Wake up, folks.) Bidding a farewell to family and friends is part of the critical deal when you leave (read: flee/escape) Iran. You're left with discreet communications. The government of Iran isn't your "friend" anymore, and would like nothing more than to teach you a lesson and/or make a bogus example of you. That's how barbarians do official business. Mr. Malekpour is a Canadian resident, not a Canadian citizen, and, unfortunately, our leverage is minimal. However, an effort from Ottawa isn't out of order"This just makes my blood
