BBC: A web designer has described how police commander Ali Dizaei challenged him to fight during a row over £600. Southwark Crown Court heard Mr Dizaei, 47, rowed with Waad Al-Baghdadi when he demanded payment for work on a website. Mr Al-Baghdadi, 24, said he was left "scared" and "shocked" when the "muscly and bigger" man challenged him near a restaurant in Kensington, west London.
Mr Dizaei denies assault, false arrest, misconduct in public office and perverting the course of justice.
The court heard a dispute between the men came to a head in July 2008 when Mr Al-Baghdadi demanded payment from Britain's most senior Asian officer for work on his personal website, alidizaei.com. A fortnight's work on the site was said to have stretched for months as Mr Dizaei sent the designer a stream of new speeches, photographs and articles mentioning him to be uploaded.
"He pointed with his left hand. He said, 'Let's go to that street, I will show you."' Mr al-Baghdadi continued: "I was shocked - I did not know what to do. "If I fight, I will go to jail because he is a police officer." The designer said he returned to the restaurant in an attempt to defuse the row, only to be confronted by Mr Dizaei once more >>>

by ramintork on Tue Jan 12, 2010 11:12 PM PSTHe was asked that question in an interview, you just need to be a member of the union and I suppose since the protection of the union applies to all ethnic groups it was appropriate for him too.
He is very clearly ambitious to get a PhD for the sake of a career in the police, (British Police force are not famous for being well educated!) and climbing the ranks in both the union and the Met.
Hmmmm
by Ali P. on Tue Jan 12, 2010 05:48 PM PSTHe is " former president of the National Black Police Association"?
Don't you need to be black for that?
Very disappointing to see this
by ramintork on Tue Jan 12, 2010 03:54 PM PSTI've been following commander Desai's News Paper appearances for a while.
For all the allegations, many of which have so far proved to be wrong, innocent or not, I think if his case does not prove that here in UK we need an organization that supports Iranians (like you have many in U.S.), nothing can.
He had an investigation that did not prove anything and cost the tax payer £4 million, involved 50 officers and in a polite way after an enquiry appeared rather racist.
He also managed to sue the News of the World for false allegations.
Dizaei won a High Court action against the Daily Mail and the Evening Standard over a defamatory article published in June 2008.
This last incident is worrying but it remains to be seen if he gets off free from this one.
Innocent or not, dragging an Iranian into the media and throwing dirt at him is not particularly nice to watch.
If he is innocent and the allegations are false and I was giving him some life changing advise, then I would say:
I know you love the police force like your Dad, but you are not for the force mate.
After the court case, hire the famous PR Guru Max Clifford, write another book and get into working in the celebrity world because after this last incident you could be the British-Iranian's answer to Naser Malek Motihi!
Do what Vinnie Jones did go from football's tough guy to screen tough guy and make more money with the mud they sling at you, and then these racists can go and do your car's valeting for all you care!
loooool
