Religion

It doesn't matter which religion you belong to because every individual is free to choose his own religious identity. I don't believe in religious fantasies like birth of an avatar or Jesus resurrection. I only believe in the message of peace and brotherhood. Thanks for sharing your view.

I am sorry but I have reviewed my postings on here and I could not find anywhere in my comments either implicitly or explicitly that YOU will be unhappy with or without religion.  That is a conclusion that you have chosen for yourself.   

Also, with much due respect, I believe no fair minded and impartial individual would consider my statement which basically repeated reported facts about the Chinese and the Russians a threat; not even a mild one.

You are certainly and obviously free to chose whatever ideology that works for you and makes you happy and content.  I am in no way challenging that.

Finally, since I am of the belief that religion should not become a cause of strife, I end this discussion here and again, sincerely apologise if I gave you the impression that in my view how you live your spiritual life is not good or proper.

Your statement pretty much implied that happiness is not possible without religion. i rephrase: You will not be happy without religion. Is that not a threat? It is a milder one by any standard but basically it follows this form:

If you don't do A then you will be denied B. Standard way of using the carrot and stick method to get people to do something. 

The other bit is about the "universality" of religion. It implies that there will be one uber government based on some uber religion and people better fall in line. I have said this before::

• I don't want a universal religion.
• I don't want to be unified.
• I don't want to be programmed. 
• I don't think all religions are the same. I think some are similar but many are very different. For example you cannot possibly say a multi-theistic religion is the same as a mono-theistic religion.

Post Islam the only "religions" allowed were mono-theistic ones of the book. So people got the false impression that all spirituality means: Islam; Judaism; Christianity and maybe Zoroastrianism which are somewhat similar.  This is not proof that all religions are the same. It is proof that Muslims banned all the other religions!

As for the message. The message of Muhammad is the problem with Islam. it is not interpretation. It is the basic underlying message. It promotes hatred of non Muslim. If condones violence against them. It promotes rape of 9 year old girls. Just read the history and the Koran.

Re: religion is like marriage

Hi right you are my brother :-) My wife demanded a divorce a few years ago. After that no way I get married again not for all the tea in China! 

As for religion: I divorced mine about 20 years ago. Never again will I fall for that. At least I got something from the wife.

I am sorry to have created an impression that I would like to impose anything on you.  I am surprised to read that you sense threats and intimidation in my original response.  Would you please let me know where in my response I committed such an act?

 
All I said is that people in China and Russia were not happy living without a source of spirituality; a religion.  Its a well documented fact that a good majority of Russians now consider themselves as Christians. 

The Chinese goverment invites Baha'i's to participate in national dialogues on education and spirituality.  The fact that Chirstianity and Islam have been misused by power hungry individuals and goverments does not take away from the fact that man has greatly benefited from these 2 religions.

At the same time, man has suffered from and in the name of religion. There are religions that teach separation of "church and state" but thats another blog for another time.

You say that the Holy Quran criticizes other religions.  May I ask the source of your claim?  What you mention is certainly not true.

When an individual, whether a Zorasterian or a Jew or a Christian becomes a Baha'i', he or she accepts the principle of progressive revelation. That obviously include the faith of the prophet Muhammad.

In my experience, when someone refers to the Baha'i' faith as "Bahaism" and an "ajnabi" created religion by an akhoond, the issue goes far deeper than your objection to the Holy Quran.  It would be more righteous for you to come out and state your real intention here.

The Baha'i' faith and Baha'i's have been subjected to far worst events than fall of a certain goverment and they have always emerged from crisis in victory.  I am certain your prediction of the "fall of the Baha'i' faith" as you put it is really not at the top of the priority list for any Baha'i'.

Halleluyah! Praise the Lord the savior! I will soon convert to christianity, as soon I get cancer. I know Jusus is the only one who can save me, not the damn doctors. 

Have you noticed that all those who converted are from religious families? They got disappointed in their own religion and couldn't live without any religion, especially when they have severe personal problems such as divorce. They kept looking for a solution and they find Jesus! Wow!

I respect all the religions. However, I think they are all the same. if you have one and works for you, keep it. If it doesn't don't bother with another religion, instead start using your own head, if you have one. You don't have to have a religion to be saved (from superstitions)!

This person has a deep psychological problem due to her problems. She could have easily found the solution in my Yoga class, or Soufi gatherings, or just by reading the book "The new earth."  So narrow minded. Now they think we are that stupid to fall for this non sense.

Man tried being without a religion and a God.  This experiments was called communism.  I don't think you could say people in Russia or China were very happy and content people. 

The problem with communism was not the lack of religion. It was centralized economy. Plus a corrupt dictatorship. That was the problem. In many ways like IRR. Grown up people do not need to rely on an organized religion. They can make their own decisions. 

Religion is based on belief without reason. This is particularly true for organized religion. Gullible people will believe anything they are told. Specially when told forcefully. 

I am a proud agnostic.

If Jesus was a saver how come he could not save himself, more importantly, religion is nothing but business and manmade, wither it is Mohamad, Jesus, Buda and the rest, they are all bunch of charlatans who wanted to take advantage of the poor and disabled masses.

When ghoran, which I know Bahais respect clearly critisizes other religions and their prophets, others have all the right to critisize islam. I will go further and call Bahaisim flawed too because when a Zarthosti is converted to Bahaism that individual has to accept Islam and its prophet and from then onward use the arabic greeting of allah o aba instead of using our beautiful persian greetings.

Fall of Jomhouri e Islami will also bring about the fall of Bahaism in Iran as it is a ajnabi religion even though the founder was an Iranian aakhund.

The prophet Mohammad is a symbol of a religion accepted and practiced by a good number of people on our planet.  Insulting him or any other prophet or religion is not constructive.

Religion is an extremely personal matter.  If I choose to be a Baha'i', its because I think its the best social, moral and spiritual guide for me.  Its the same for people who have selected Islam or Christianity or .....

The message of Chirst, Mohammad, Baha'u'lla'h and others is not the problem.  Use of religion by man as a means to gain power and wealth is the problem and what should be avoided.
