AP: An Iran Air-owned Airbus bound for Tehran slid off a Stockholm runway on Saturday, but no one was hurt, a Swedish airport official said. Some 172 people, including 23 crew members, were on board the Airbus 300-600 when it swerved off the runway and glided some 130 yards (100 meters) into the snow. Everyone was safely evacuated, Arlanda airport spokesman Anders Bredfall said. One of the airport's three runways was closed as officials launched an investigation into the accident. "Everyone has been safely evacuated and will be flown tomorrow instead," Bredfall said. Bredfall said the cause of the accident was not immediately clear, but that it is possible that there were problems with one of the plane's two engines, possibly causing it to swerve >>>

Dear Rustgoo
by faryarm on Mon Jan 18, 2010 09:23 AM PSTAs you said..
"The official news broadcast on the radio indicated his suicide; besides no political group claimed for his assassination.."
Yes probably Just like his fellow Bahais who just vanished and not to be heard of...
The Hojjatiyyih Secret Society, did not and still does not announce its "holy" assasinations.
General Khademi, was a Bahai and a prime target for elimination by those who will hopefully face the consequences for killing a true lover and servant of his country.
Hope fully one day the facts will be revealed by the same gangs who are currently eating each other up and soon "The official news broadcast on the radio" will announce the day when hundreds and thousands of mothers, wives and families will see justice for all the "suicides", and murders.
regards
faryar

Tragedy
by rustgoo on Mon Jan 18, 2010 03:18 AM PSTThe official news broadcast on the radio indicated his suicide; besides no political group claimed for his assassination. Does it really matter? The only fact which really matters is the tragic decline of the status of the Iranian aviation industry.
I'll answer my own q then.
by پیام on Mon Jan 18, 2010 03:01 AM PSTGood news will arrive on the removal of parasite mollahs and akhoonds in charge of Iran right now.I bet there are plenty of aviation technicians willing to work in their motherland once it is liberated. Then we won't lose any more lives on old air planes which its overhaul consisted of a bucket of fresh paint. This mainly as a consequence of corrupted officials ( who steal the funds reserved for repair of these birds) and the animosity of i.r. towards the whole world resulting them not being able to buy spare parts in a regular manner and having to buy them on the black market costing them the triple of the original price.
General Khademi Was Assasinated by..
by faryarm on Sun Jan 17, 2010 09:32 PM PSTI remember hearing That Mrs Khademi called a Neigbour in the early morning after 2 men rang the bell and stormed in to the house, killing one of the most honourable men of his era who built and managed Iran Air to become what it became in the 1970s.

news updated!
by choghok on Sun Jan 17, 2010 03:37 PM PSTI read an updated version of the news. On engined bursts in flame and some parts of it is later found on the ground. The experts said later that this was no danger since that even if this would happen in the air the airplane should be able to land with no problem. They said also that this problem is really rare since carriers have the obligation to check up their airplanes regularly.
40 years old aircrafts !
by Fatollah on Sun Jan 17, 2010 02:44 PM PSTwhat do you expect? In fact I am amased how they keep the Iran air fleet operational, in 10 years time, these air crafts will resemble the Cuban Car park!

Too early to tell
by Sargord Pirouz on Sun Jan 17, 2010 05:34 AM PSTMisleading to call this an "explosion", this early into the investigation.
Odds are the Number 1 engine suffered a compressor stall (not as uncommon as you would tend to believe) with flame out.
Very tricky situation for the pilots. They are trained for this kind of thing, however.
Everybody safe and the a/c only suffering minor damage. Depending on the outcome of the investigation, it may be the IranAir crew are heroes.
