Karen Ostad

First female president of Iranian American Bar Association

NIAC: Iranian-American attorney Karen Ostad began her tenure as the first female president of the Iranian American Bar Association (IABA). The IABA, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2000, boasts 1,500 members nationwide, and has chapters in nine major metropolitan areas: Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County, Houston, Seattle, New York, Northern California, and Washington, DC. “I was very honored to even be considered,” Ostad told NIAC. Ostad was elected unanimously in a June meeting of the board of directors. "Karen is a tremendous asset to IABA and the Iranian-American community,” stated her predecessor, Nema Milaninia. “We are incredibly proud that she is taking up this mantle as IABA's new president. Her qualifications and expertise are not only impressive, but reflective of the growing prestige of our organization and the talent it attracts." >>>

I was not comparing IABA to anything - just giving examples!

ACLU has done more for Iranian community than IABA.

by Javadagha on

One of the Iranian lawyers asked me to donate money towards scholarship through Orange County IABA almost ten years ago.  Because of my donation, I was invited to a gathering at a house of a member of IABA.  Over hundred IABA members attended this meeting in Newport Beach, California.   Thanks to American legal system, many of our IABA members are doing well and live in nice homes and drive nice cars.

ACLU has done more for Iranian community than IABA.

MM jaan, never compare NIAC to IABA.  NIAC is a volunteer organization whose staff get paid bare minimum whereas IABA members are highly paid individuals who live a good life at misery of many poor souls.

IABA and NIAC were the first two Iranian-American organizations that rushed to the legal defense of the Persepolis tablets which were being taken over in a lawsuit brought up by the families of an Israeli suicide victims.

In IABA's website, a good number of times, I have seen electronic letters that are sent to high places (UN, .......) on behalf of potential victims, here and there.

IABA is a place where young Iranian-American attorneys come, learn and network.

Okay, Congratulations.  BUT: What have they done for Iranians and/or Iran?

Give me ONE example.  Thanks.

Iranian women

  • ALWAYS PERSIAN
  • With all due respect to all women, I think Iranian women have a very special talent, they are couragous, initiative and creative and have the ability to do big jobs and hold key positions and it is a pity that in Iran , they are not allowed to actively participate in running country.

LONG LIVE IRAN AND ALL IRANIANS AND PERSIAN GULF
