The Guardian: A remarkable series of interviews with former members of the Iran's Revolutionary Guard today offer a rare insight into one of the world's most oppressive regimes. The four men, who have fled Iran and are in hiding in Turkey and Thailand, speak out in a documentary produced by Guardian Films and the Bureau of Investigative Journalism. In testimony provided by the men, at least one of whom was part of last year's crackdown on opposition to the Iranian regime, the film reveals: >>>

very revealing
by Anonymous Observer on Sat Jun 12, 2010 08:55 AM PDTit's the fate of all dictatorships. They eliminate all opposition and then when there's no one left, they fight amongst themselves, and that will be their demise.

The most telling thing is how
by Onlyiran on Fri Jun 11, 2010 07:04 PM PDTunstable the regime considers itself to be. Thirty years after taking power, they are immediately frightened at a few days of protest and start making preparations to leave the country. This shows that they themselves know how illegitimate they are in the eyes of the Iranian people.
This should also show everyone that the whole idea of reforming this genocidal regime is a farce. They know they are a military dictatorship. They know that they rule the public by brute force, and they know that the slightest deviation from their tries and proven practice of murder, fear, rape and torture will mean their end. And we have agents, clowns, operatives and idiots of all stripes on this side advocating reconciliation with these thugs so that perhaps a hundred years later, when there is nothing more left to plunder from Iran, they will ease up on their "hejab" laws....

by Iraniandudee3 on Fri Jun 11, 2010 06:01 PM PDTCases like this are in the thousands, where you have islamist regime supporters learning what idiots they are and leaving the islamic regime, I've even met a couple in real life who were involved in the regime, then left for America after realizingthe truth about this regime, that it's just a shameless leach.
You see, the second someone educates theirself, there is no going back to that primitive state of thinking anymore, because you can't undo education or the knowledge you have learned, this is the case for most of these regime supporters and many of the people involved in the islamist government, they lack common sense and simple education.
This is the true face of this UGLY & CRUEL Regime
by mehdi2009 on Fri Jun 11, 2010 03:02 PM PDTMy fellow Iranians,
I have been saying over and over again during the past year in my 4 trips to Iran, that the Mullah's Murderous Regime is on thin ice. This post just proved what I have been constantly saying about the Rank and File of IRGC and Bassij's discontent with this Cruel and Inhumane Regime.
There are a GREAT NUMBER of veterans of the Iran - Iraq war who are ashamed of serving this Garbage Regime. The news piece reports that 1/3 of the IRGC and Bassij are disgusted with, and are against this regime, and I would say the number to be much, much higher. This information was given to me by the men who are still in the services of this regime, and constantly are afraid for the lives of themselves and their families just like the men on this report. These are the same people who served on the front lines in Iran - Iraq war, and now are totally disillusioned with the fast sinking regime.
The apologists of the Mullah's Murderous Regime can scream and holler their usual Asinine NONSENSE in this forum. However until these so called BLIND followers of Mullah Khamenie and his Malijak, Ahmadinejad, go back to Iran and see the ECONOMIC Disaster which these incompetent Bunch have brought on the people of our country, they would not be able to spew their garbage any longer with any shred of credibility.
Salutation to ALL the TRUE Sons and Daughters of Iran.

by oktaby on Fri Jun 11, 2010 09:48 AM PDTA good post, nonetheless. I question Guardian or any other British media's motives but all the key assertions were well known and documented last year. I had blogged a few. The regime knew it was on the brink. What saved them is the fake green and hope for islamist like Mousavi & Kahroubi to somehow help save people from islamism.
The only silver lining in this darkness is that people are learning why islamist, in any form, cannot be trusted or relied on even as allies in a movement. Time for passive resistance is coming to an end. One focal point of efforts now needs to be the armed forces and their discontent. This regime must go or we'll have a war on our hands sooner or later.
