(Reuters) - Iran put to death on Sunday five members of "anti-revolutionary" groups who had been involved in a series of bombings, the state news agency said. Farzad Kamangar, Ali Haydarian, Farhad Vakili, Shirin Alam Houli and Mehdi Eslamian were hanged at Evin prison on Sunday morning, IRNA said. The report said the five were involved in "terrorist operations", including planting bombs in both public and government places over several years. The incidents appeared to have taken place before disputed elections last year that gave President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad a second term in office, creating a protest movement the authorities have tried to crush.

I wonder
by Anonymous Observer on Sun May 09, 2010 08:07 AM PDTHow their "trial" was conducted...or if they had one (seriously doubt it).
Anyway, this sad event is just one more "notch" in IRI's murderous belt.
Congratulations (or as your buddies IMF and "No Fear" say, congra"dul"ations), Sargord the American. It's a good thing that you don't live, and have never lived in IRI's utopia, isn't it? Otherwise, who knows, you may have been on the receiving end of their "justice" for perhaps saying the wrong thing about the color of Khamenei's turban.
The callousness of the IRGC
by vildemose on Sun May 09, 2010 08:03 AM PDTThe callousness of the IRGC groupies such as sargord, the loser, and defenders of radical Islam on this site is appalling. I believe that we need to stand up and show those in power whether in Iran or teh US that there are many of us who will not stand for anything less than the real stopping of torture, and those responsible for torture being held legally accountable.
May Justice someday prevail.

sargord, they were humans
by humanbeing on Sun May 09, 2010 08:01 AM PDTthey were humans. it is barbaraic to torture and hang, i don't care whom. call me a judgmental joyless bore. i don't give a damn what you think about me for feeling this.
try to think of someone doing it to a turbine engine, or an F16 stealth whatever jet, or some other inanimate war toy, sorry i'm not up on the specifics, and the think about the pain it brings you. transfer that empathy to a human if you will.

by Mardom Mazloom on Sun May 09, 2010 07:28 AM PDTYou're a disgusting bugger creature.
The time of labeling people, for proving that their murderings were justified is over.
One of these humans, who was alive like you yesterday, was a simple teacher and his only fault was to say that one should resist over the oppressor.
You'll probably meet some of the people that you mocked their death in hell and you'll get the money of your disgusting hatred back there.
Aren't these folks PJAK?
by Sargord Pirouz on Sun May 09, 2010 07:06 AM PDTAren't these folks PJAK? Isn't PKK/PJAK recognized as a terrorist organization? (It certainly is inside the Islamic Republic of Iran.)
I suppose the next thing you're going to tell us is that Osama bin Laden and the entire membership of al-Qaeda are "activists." (sarcasm)
One day or another
by Rea on Sun May 09, 2010 04:52 AM PDT.... they'll pay for their crimes against those young people. And the sooner, the better.
May they never be forgotten
by Farah Rusta on Sun May 09, 2010 04:12 AM PDTThe Islamic republic, its past, present and future proponents and supporters as well as the perpetrators of these crimes will have to be punished for their evil thoughts and deeds. Their punishment, one way or the other will come. May it last long.
