You can find these beasts mainly in southern California.  Their mating season runs all year.  They prefer to be kept as house pets in Bel Air and Beverly Hills.

What's worse, consenting adults engaging in swinging in North America or religious sanctioned prostitution peddled through religious foundations, mosques and holy shrines in Iran? I don't think there is any question which one is worse, and it ain't the North American swinging!

Aryana-Vaeja - You are right about LA!

I heard that prosperous well-to-do Iranians engage in swinging in LA. I also heard that they try to bait their friends'/acquaintances' husbands and wives during the parties. But these are primarily those rich and corrupt people living in Beverly Hills and Bel-Air which sold out their country and came to live with lots of easy cash. And their mayor is of course Jimmy Delshad!

Amongst certain income brackets of Iranians in North America

Swinging is all the rage! I can't give you stats because amongst Iranians this sort of research would be nearly impossible to conduct. But minimalizing it as if it is a fiction is actually attempting to deny the phenomena exists when it does. Denial is not a river in Egypt and it is best to address these issues in educated fashion rather than deny them altogether as if they are exagerrated or not real at all. Denial is a real problem in our culture.

When I lived in LA in the mid-late '90s I ran into a distinguished and well respected (at the time 30-something) Iranian couple who propositioned myself and my casual girlfriend at the time for some partner swapping action. They even invited us to an all-Iranian orgy in Bel Air, no kidding! We tried not to act shocked and politely turned them down on all invitations, but they matter of factly confessed to us that they were part of a whole sub-culture of well to do Iranians swinging and romping each other all over LA. I was shocked and so basically began taking my distance from these people, but in retrospect I should have not taken my distance at all and (rather than engaging in the behavior) instead used the opportunity to conduct field work research by compiling social science data on the whole phenomenon because these things are important in gauging the development of cultures in diaspora, and trends in sexuality are an important facet of any culture's development.

Now if these things have been happening amongst sub-cultures of the Iranian community in North America, given my own experience and observations, they are certainly happening in Iran as well, especially amongst the North Tehran crowd. Even if we think the behavior to be deviant and culturally verboten it still makes no sense to kick these issues under the carpet, turn our heads and deny them. Let the experts and professionals (esp. psychologists) study them and offer whatever advice they can give, like what Dr. Mohebbi has done here, because such things are actually helping people in the long term - maybe even curtailing the behavior or at least making such behavior more responsible by its participants.

What's the stats on those doing the swing successfully??

I have only come across this on TV and in movies and have never known anyone who has heard from some place that they know of  some couple doing this.

I am not saying its not happening but I think its only practiced by a very minuscule minority of couples who must have both suffered very bad abuse during their childhood.

I wonder if "some" of these so called couples may even be fake couples who use the front to satisfy their abnormally high sexual urges. Like sex addicts and Nymphomaniacs who are not actually in a relationship.

Other circumstances my be in the case of drug addicts doing it as a
financial means to satisfy their habit, or the case of a pimp and his
prostitute girl friend. 

The lady says this has come about 40-50 years ago, I'd say perverted behaviour goes back to the beginning of man kind and its always been around. Its perhaps only in the modern ages where it seems anything goes and we talk and discuss all topics.

And how are we supposed to visualize the "model statue" next to the lady in relation with the "sex" issues???

PS: This lady for sure needs to see a "mental health" specialist asap.

Necessary discussion

This is quite a necessary discussion needing to happen in the greater Iranian community. Kudos to Maryam Mohebbi for stepping up to the plate as an expert to discuss these things. Her advice and perspective is quite sound and balanced too.
